So what are the Volley & Bayonet rules all about? With Volley & Bayonet players can recreate the famous battles of the black powder era on their wargames table. Unlike many other wargame rules systems with Volley & Bayonet you can refight entire battles of Napoleonic period – rather than small sections of an historic battles. Indeed, even the largest historical battles of the period can be refought on your wargames table with ease. Examples include Talavera, Salamanca, Wagram, Borodino or even Waterloo. The rules can of course be used for fictional battles and to enable this an innovative scenario system is included.

Instead of Napoleonic battles perhaps the Seven Years War, American Civil War or Franco-Prussian War is your focus? Using period specific rules the core Volley & Bayonet rules are transformed to model the many other wars of the black powder period. These period specific rules are included in the rules package, so there is no need for additional supplements.

A stirring Seven Years War engagement.

But what scale are the miniatures? Volley & Bayonet is scale independent allowing players can use miniatures ranging from 2mm through to 28mm miniatures. Some even use 54mm miniatures illustrating the flexibility of the game system. Further, if you have an existing miniature collection the use of sabot basing will allow you to use your existing miniatures. While my armies are in 6mm miniatures, and these will feature here frequently, the rules are very suitable to any figure scale.

This website is well known for its extensive range of free historic scenarios which supplement several official scenario books available from Test of Battle Games. The information presented here has been developed over many years from the player community and is presented as a free resource. Individual authors retain copyright of course, but permission is given for you to download for your personal use. I do however ask you do not post the information elsewhere.
