We elucidate the context of digital publicity as an arena of reputation formation, suggest that human emotions should be considered and studied as factors in reputation formation, and present our research setting, which we hope will accurately measure psychophysiological responses to corporate reputation. This paper describes a work in progress.

Current project management literature with regard to global projects is dominated by a practition... more Current project management literature with regard to global projects is dominated by a practitioner-driven approach treating projects as fundamentally similar and universal across countries even if they are unique phenomena defined by their purpose, resources, and contextual variables. This paper contributes to that literature by considering implications from cultural and institutional theory. The paper discusses how processes in global projects are influenced by cultural and institutional differences between the project participants. The paper provides a framework and methodology for studying the effects and management of cultural and institutional differences in global projects. Tentative findings based on studying multicultural construction projects in Middle East and Europe illustrate how cultural and institutional differences can lead to unforeseeable costs, time overruns and quality problems. Management consulting started to evolve in Estonia around 40 years ago. The development was affec... more Management consulting started to evolve in Estonia around 40 years ago. The development was affected by the consulting practice and literature mostly from the United States and neighbouring Finland. The most important factors in the development of the consulting sector in Estonia were direct contacts and cooperation of Estonian and Finnish management experts. As a result, the Estonian management theorists and practicioners were of the top level in the whole Soviet Union and affected the management-related thinking and practice in many other management knowledge centres in the Soviet Union. The development of management consulting between 1970 and 1990 formed a good basis for contemporary management consulting and development after Estonia regained its independence from the Soviet rule in 1991.

The interest in the potential of designers contributing to business and management innovation and the economy as a whole has grown, with the premise being that companies modelling innovation processes on the design process are more innovative and more successful than others. Design has become represented almost as a synonym to innovation and a legitimate response to criticisms of management training for being too scientific and detached from real-world complexities and problems. Research on corporate decline and turnarounds as well as the strategic use of history have so far... more Research on corporate decline and turnarounds as well as the strategic use of history have so far remained two separate research fields. We integrate these two fields with a thought experiment, proposing ways in which strategists can work with, and through time in managing and turning around declines. Our thought experiment involves two very different types of analogies: a textual one from Philip K. Dick’s science fiction novels, on the one hand, and a visual one from Einsteinian relativity science, on the other hand. Inspired and informed by these different conceptualizations of the past and time, we develop four forms of backward strategizing to successfully manage a struggling corporation on the brink of environmental collapse. The strategic options, presuming that managers are historically conscious agents embedded in time, direct corporations to go back in history, in actual terms, or in a fictional or mythological one – and thus to initiate a past-related rebirth. Reputation as emotional experiences – the use of psychophysiological measurements in corporate reputation research

&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;quot;Few studies of organizational reputation explicitly link th... more &amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;quot;Few studies of organizational reputation explicitly link the macro-level, sociological phenomenon of reputation with the micro-level psychological phenomenon of emotions. In addition, the study of reputation lacks proper empirical tools to combine these two levels. We suggest that human emotions should be considered and studied as factors in reputation formation. In this paper we first ponder the possibilities psychophysiological study of emotions can offer to organizational reputation research. Secondly, we present empirical findings from two research projects. DiRe (Digital Reputation) is a fundamental research project examining the relationship of reputation, emotions and motivation by using advanced psychophysiological methods. A follow-up project Media2 uses communication research and psychophysiology to explain how the emotional reputation of media corporations and their brands affects audiences’ media consumption decisions. In these studies we adopt the view that emotions guide human cognition, and that reputation as an emotional experience is a powerful influencer in stakeholder decision making. We argue that reputation is a set of beliefs within an individual that both affects and is affected by cognitive and emotional processes. We approach this view of reputation by combining communication research to measuring psychophysiological signals, which give detailed information on the unconscious emotional and motivational processes. &amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;quot;

ABSTRACT Marketing research has shown that cross-functionalteam structuresare not a universal pan... more ABSTRACT Marketing research has shown that cross-functionalteam structuresare not a universal panacea for shortening developnnent times or improving success rates. Marketing research has nonetheless included the claim that marketing-led teams result in superior performance in cross-functional teamwork, in comparison with sales-led or design-led structures. The premise has been that marketing structures are more participative, more efficient, and more effective than sales-led or design-led structures. This paper presents a more nuanced view. Analysing factors such as contingency, closure, and attitude, the paper argues that the effectiveness of any one functional base or organisational arrangement depends on the customers and on the technologies by which these customers are served. On the basis of a literature review and five case studies, the paper specifies why and how cross-functional teams should be design-led when the task is to open up new ways of envisioning or to generate new ideas for the future.
