The Centre for Clean Environment (CCE) at VIT Vellore has been awarded a prestigious grant of ₹72,57,600/- for a two-year project under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), Ministry of Education, Government of India. The award was received from Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon. Minister of Education, Government of India, and Shri. Jason Clare, Hon. Minister of Education, Government of Australia, during the 3rd Australia-India Education and Skills Council (AIESC) in New Delhi! The project, titled “Quantitative Assessment of Socio-Economic and Environmental Impacts of the Leather Industry in India and Identification of Remedial Pathways,” is a crucial step in promoting Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Change solutions.

The 19th Edition of the Global Congress on Manufacturing and Management (GCMM) 2025 jointly organised by Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep, Thailand; University of Southern Queensland, Australia; Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom; Coventry University, United Kingdom; University of Minho, Portugal and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland was successfully inaugurated on 10.12.2025. This year's congress, which is a key biennial international event, is focused on the critical and timely theme: Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Manufacturing for Global Economy. The theme sets the stage for experts from around the world to discuss the vital integration of cutting-edge technologies like AI, robotics, and IIoT into smart, resource-efficient, and sustainable manufacturing practices. The event was gracefully presided over by the Chief Guest, Thiru. Justice P. Sathasivam, Hon’ble Former Chief Justice of India and Former Governor of Kerala, who delivered the pivotal Inaugural Address. He was joined on the dais by our Honourable Founder and Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan, Vice President Dr. Sekar Viswanathan, Assistant Vice President Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Ms. Ramani Balasundaram, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Partha Sharathi Mallick, along with dignitaries from the organising universities. The presence of these academic and judicial leaders underscored the national importance of the congress's agenda. A key highlight of the inauguration was the recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of Manufacturing and Management. The ceremony included the presentation of prestigious awards to influential figures: the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, the Excellence in Research Award was bestowed upon Professor Thalappil Pradeep, and the Excellence in Service Award went to Dr. Madhusudan Reddy. The entire congress looks forward to two days of fruitful deliberations, research presentations, and networking opportunities designed to drive innovation for a more sustainable global economy.
