What is SICTED?

Commitment to Responsible Tourism: Escorca (SICTED)

Escorca Town Council is spearheading the roll-out of the new SICTED scheme: Sustainability, Intelligence and Tourism Quality in the Destination Ecosystem.. This programme by the State Secretariat for Tourism (SETUR), developed with the support of the FEMP and theThe Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB) is setting out the roadmap to transform our municipality into a more competitive, technologically advanced and sustainable destination.

Since joining Sicted, Escorca has been working to establish a model of tourism in which excellence is a shared value. The system brings together 36 different trades, enabling both public and private tourism services to work together using a common approach focused on efficiency and respect for our social and environmental surroundings.

“Commitment to Tourism Quality” badge

Companies and services that meet the program’s requirements can obtain the “Tourism Quality Commitment” distinction , a public recognition that:

  • It acknowledges the effort to offer a quality service.

  • It distinguishes the establishment from the competition.

  • It is valid for two years , with annual follow-up evaluations .

This distinction is only awarded to those companies that have correctly implemented the SICTED Good Practice Manuals .

What are the benefits of being part of SICTED?

Improvement of the establishment's internal management. Boost to quality management. Greater knowledge of customers and their behavior. Access to best practice manuals adapted to each sector. Increase in reliability perceived by the customer. Deeper knowledge of one's own destination. Integration into a nationally recognized quality system. How does the system implementation work?

Once affiliated, companies begin an annual implementation process, which includes: Technical visits by approved advisors. Access to a complete training plan, divided into 24 thematic modules. Possibility of taking part in online training. Participation in collective workshops and working groups to generate common improvement proposals for the destination. This support is carried out in collaboration with the Escorca City Council and the AETIB.

What does the ‘Commitment to Responsible Tourism’ label guarantee?

This seal identifies tourism services that have demonstrated compliance with the new quality and sustainability standards. By choosing a service that has been awarded this seal, visitors can be confident that it is committed to a process of continuous improvement, having passed external assessments and audits that ensure its management is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
