VirtualDVD can emulate a disc reader and create uncountable virtual drives on your computer. This is an absolute advantage if you prefer to store the contents of your discs in image files, as it’s the case of multiple games that require loading one or more discs to work properly. Besides, a program like this comes in handy when you´re using a tablet or a notebook that doesn’t have a built-in disc reader.
This application is certainly very easy to use. It installs smoothly on your system and can be set to start automatically after user login. It doesn´t have an actual graphical user interface as we know it; instead, there´s a small icon in the System Tray that displays the program’s menu. From there, a very simple dialog box allows setting your preferences as to the number of virtual drives and the language to use. Most importantly, the menu also allows mounting and dismounting disc images.
In general, VirtualDVD can meet the demands of any kind of user needing to read the contents of disc images. As to this, its best advantage is probably related to its support of a very wide range of image formats, even LCD, of which the developers are very proud. Moreover, its lack of more sophisticated features, such as converting between formats or ripping discs, is compensated with its extreme usability and no cost.
