| Today, while killing time in the mall with my dad, I saw a good comic tee. It had a bunch of Silver Age heroes, but the greatest part was the row of villains - it had Darkseid! I think that's a first. And the Riddler for Dan http://www.wbshop.com/cat/DC-Comics-Character-Cards-Adult-T-Shirt-from-Junk-Food.html Sadly, they only had it in men's, X Large no less. So with a pessimistic heart I checked the girl's side, and lo, they had 2 Batgirl tees (and some WW shirts but I don't care about her). One BG tee was meh. ( http://teeshirtsrock.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=13618 it's kinda looks like she's swinging, which is cool, but i hate the bats) The other, oh the awesome! Babs on a motorcycle! Perfection! EXCEPT FOR HOW THEY DREW PINK HEARTS ALL OVER IT. ::sob:: When are they going to realize that the kind of girl that reads comics and wants a comic tee is the kind of girl that doesn't need her belongings to be coated in pink, sparkles, or hearts? My frustration knows no bounds. To top it all off, we went into Galyan's Dick's next, and Dad pointed out a shirt that has lightning bolts on it! I think they were really the new tribalistic symbol for the company (Nike I think?) but it looked like a elseworld Flash costume. And it was on sale! And of course they only had men's! *$^*&%#^&%*($#&&!!!! I also can't find women's socks to wear with my boots for under $10 a pair. I hate the world. On the plus side, while trying to find that Batgirl tee to show y'all, I found this Supergirl tee. http://www.label360.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=5665&BrandId=89&CategoryId= It's a little awesome. | I finally wore my Pushstars shirt enough that it has holes. Like, not damn-i-pulled-it-so-hard-i-ripped-it-once holes; I just noticed that it has 4 holes, just kinda chillin in the middle of the fabric around stress points. Damn. I love that that shirt. I've had it for what, 5 years? Which actually in Rachel-life isn't that long, I mean I'm planning on wearing my 8th grade dress to the Goldman Awards, but still. Memories. I need all my clothes to be stainproof and indestructible dammit. Guess the Mrs. Welling shirt will have to replace it as my black-tee-i-wear-everywhere. | |

| So, anyone else out there totally hating current fashion? It's like this weird combination of 30s/40s/80s, and designed to make you look like a pregnant stick. It baffles me. If some people want to dress that way rock out, but I hate that everyone always jumps on the bandwagon and we have no options. Diversity people! Why would anyone buy your clothes if they're exactly the same as every other brand/designer, it's just common sense, grr. Pretty much any clothing I want to buy these days is ridiculously expensive, like Edun. Edun is a very cool brand. I'm glad they exist, I like the way they run things, I'd love to support them, and I'd love to not have to pay $55 a tshirt to do so. I really want this shirt http://www.azaleaonline.com/ednwteem098lhb.html, mostly because it reminds me of the pattern on one of my saris. Don't suppose that could be considered a work shirt? If only it was less...tshirty... | |

| WB sells this "sexy" Batgirl costume. http://www.wbshop.com/cat/Batman/Clothing-and-Accessories/Costumes/BATGIRL-Adult-Costume.htmlFools. The people that'd be meant to be sexy to is geeks right? And pretty much any geek is going to look at that and think, not "Hot damn", but "Oh for...that's not an accurate costume at all! None of the Batgirls wear a skirt or have bare arms and they both wear cowls, that mask is closest to Huntress! If it's Babs it shouldn't be black, if it's Cass she should have a full cowl and only a Bat outline and definately Not high heels - could they screw that up any More?" before they think about it being sexy. Or maybe that's just me. ::looks around:: Lil backup? I mean, if someone dressed up Accurately like Batgirl or Robin it would be supahot, but...no, this I would just have to mock. Someone miiiiight be able to convince me that it's meant to be a combination of all the bat females but...no. Skirt. Lame. It also cracks me up because there was a Batman story, I think in LotDK, where some random guy was dressing up like Batman for his wife, fell out a window, hit his head, and thought he was Batman. After many misadventures, mostly consisting of him getting his ass kicked by various people, the real Batman finally finds him and says, "Do me a favor. Next time you want to spice up your lovelife, dress like Superman." -This hoody, on the other hand, is just a little awesome. http://www.wbshop.com/cat/Batman/Clothing-and-Accessories/Jackets/DC-Supergirls-Anything-Boys-Can-Do-Juniors-Hoodie.html even though, I'm sorry to say, in the gold/silver age the girls really Couldn't do everything the boys could. -If they had this http://www.wbshop.com/cat/Batman/Clothing-and-Accessories/Shirts/BATMAN-BEGINS-Logo-Adult-T-Shirt.html in girl's, it would be almost the canon shirt that Babs wears! Which is what I'm holding out for - Babs' canon shirt, and Dick's canon boxers. I like to take my fangirl merchandise to the next level. -I hate to say it, but this http://www.wbshop.com/cat/Batman/Books-and-Calendars/BATMAN-All-Star-Batman--Robin-2007-Collectible-Wall-Calendar.html is a little tempting. Because the writing on All-Star makes me want to claw out my brain, but the art is So Good. It's so unfair. So here's just the art! But I feel like that would still be supporting All-Star, and I think I'd rather die than send any signals that Frank Miller should be allowed to live. -ZOMG TINY ROBIN!!! http://www.wbshop.com/cat/BATMAN-Limited-Edition-Golden-Age-Die-Cast-Batmobile-Collection.html Look at his wee nekkid legs! -Somewhere Batman is plotting to take WB down for this. http://www.wbshop.com/cat/BATMAN-Marionette.html Batman is nobody's puppet! In case you're wondering why I'm browsing WB's Batman site, it's research. No really. Or...well ok, it started that way anyways, trying to see if I could buy a body pillow in Korea, and this reminded me of the anime body pillows in Japan, which made me wonder if they have Batman body pillows...what? Don't judge me. | |

| This post is just my way of posting pictures for pikakao without filling up her comment page, if you're not her you can freely ignore this, unless of course you're curious about foreign clothing. Wiki has good articles on all of these, here's my little crash course. (most pictures not mine) | |

| Oh yeah, and my parents Totally Rock. When I walked into the living room mom asked if I'd like a laptop for xmas. I think my response was something like "ohdeargodYESpleasepleaseplease". This means that I won't have to try and use Cindy's supaslow laptop in the few hours she's not on it while we're in Korea. She has one of those laptops that cries if you try and use more than 3 windows at once, which drives me nuts since I always have at least 5 things going at once. Plus I'll be able to upload my pics onto it and then burn them, instead of trying to store them on an IPod and occasionally burning CDs off Cindy's comp. And it'll be easier to take to DC - my cube would travel well I think, but I was worried about the screen, and who knows how much space I'll have. And, well, I love my cube, but it has been giving me a lot of trouble lately, my peace of mind would greatly increase with a backup. Really, I'm traveling so much that it would be handy all the time, I wished I'd had one on SAS and I'd wished I'd had one on my road trip. I'm so happy. So now we just have to pick one out, and by that I mean my parents have already picked one out but I need to go fuss over specs and possibly go to Best Buy and check them out physically.
And I found $8.50 travel pants today at Old Navy.

| When some people go clothes shopping they just go with the vague notion of needing a shirt or something and get whatever they fancy. I, on the other hand, have a very specific list of criteria for each kind of clothing, and am always looking for that exact thing - the perfect mix of functionality that looks good. The vast majority of the time I don't find it, I get lucky about once every few years. Today was that day :) ( i have no illusions that anyone else cares about my errands, but i'm going to post about them anywaysCollapse )there was a tiny green frog on my house tonight. he was very cute. and there was much rejoicing throughout the land. | |

| I finally found the perfect formal shoes, after years of searching. I'm so happy I felt like hugging them all the way home from the mall. They're incredibly comfortable - squishy insoles, flexible sole, a wedge heel that makes it easy to walk but doesn't look cheap like most wedges, straps that keep my skinny feet in the shoe. And the soles have a working tread without looking too tough! ::heart:: I think they're pretty. BeautiFeel is the brand http://www.footwearetc.com/static_links/225-W.html I got the Jess model in black (but i bought it for cheaper). I kinda wish they'd had the Lana (haha adriana) but the straps on those don't go over the foot as much so they prob wouldn't be quite as comfy. they have good mary janes too! expensive, but i think worth it to not dread formal events and feel like if i get attacked while dressed up i can still defend myself without stopping to take my shoes off. i'm a happy rachel, and for anyone fed up with uncomfy formal shoes i recommend you go get happy too! :) | |
|
| every now and then i feel compelled to search for boots/mary janes on the offchance that someone has finally made my ideal shoe. i've been looking for a boot that is: lightweight, comfortable, not-stiflingly-hot, waterproof, quick on-and-off, durable, good looking, and with good tread. aside from some $200 military boots, i hadn't seen anything. shockingly enough, i think i've finally been successful. ( boot and mary jane babbleCollapse ) | |

| Mom and I went to H&M to look at a suit, and we didn't get the suit, but it got mom thinking about how I needed work-worthy clothes by next spring and we should probably take advantage of the current clothing trends while flattering semiformal clothes are in. So we popped into Express, and I popped out with a plain white shirt (my old one has a hole and is off-off-white) and 2 supasnazzy pairs of pants! Semiformal pants almost never look good on me, they always drape wrong, but I really like these. They're just hot enough without looking like I'm trying. We got these shiny-gray-pinstripe ones and also a pair of flat black. I like them so much i want to wear them around, but i'm resisting, wouldn't want to rough them up. For some reason they look a little baggier in that pic than they really are ::shrug:: so if you're looking for good work pants, and you're too lanky and hiparific for most pants and you want your butt to look good and you have $70 to drop on pants (i didn't, but mommy did, thanks mom!), may i recommend The Editor pants at express :) And if anyone comes across a good place to get fitted dress shirts with proper long or 3/4 sleeves drop me a line. Also, I pared my away messages down to just 153! Woohoo! what a stunningly productive day. - Tags:clothes
