This is a personal survey and evaluation of the presuppositions, history, and practices used in New Testament textual criticism. An attempt is made to show the importance of the presupposition of divine preservation for widespread use in early versions to help determine which readings among extant Greek manuscripts best reflect the original.

Here is my initial response to David Currie's book. I was very disturbed after reading it, and found it hard to give Mr. Currie the benefit of doubt, in other words, the trust that his presentation was just the result of sincere (though perhaps sloppy) scholarship and investigation, and not a calculated misrepresentation of Scriptures and Evangelicalism. I would very much like to correspond with him, as soon as I get a hold of his address, hoping he would indeed prove to me that he came to these conclusions only as a result of having been misled by others... including poor representatives of his fundamentalist background. But I fear he has adopted too quickly the Roman Catholic theology for all the wrong reasons and after too little study on the subject of final authority. Anyway, here are my findings of Currie's use of Scripture in support of his positions in the first quarter of his book.
