
Ian Mutamiri
Ian is an engineer (BSc Electrical Engineering – Software/ICT Major, MPhil Engineering in Telecommunications/ICT) with extensive experience in design, implementation and management/support for custom-made ICT systems as well as network engineering. His MPhil project, NatiV – a mobile e-learning application for children, has won several international grants and awards including the Fund for Internet Research and Education from AFRINIC (2013). He was also a Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) 2015 candidate. He has been nominated for the Best ICT Innovator award by the Ministry of ICT (Zimbabwe, 2015) and was on the shortlist for the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation (2014). He has worked on several database (MySQL, MS SQL, marydb, postregsql, etc.) and Java Enterprise application designs for the Agriculture (Zimbabwe Farmers’ Union, ZFU) and Health (Association for Health Funders of Zimbabwe, AHfoZ) industries. He actively contributes to the body of knowledge in ICT, and is a fervent innovator of alternative energy and agriculture automation solutions.
