Considering change as a part of our lives is a noble action, even more so when it impacts the liv... more Considering change as a part of our lives is a noble action, even more so when it impacts the lives of others; when you consider change you are seeking new horizons, new challenges, new learning opportunities, newer versions of ourselves, depending on each situation. In education, changes are a way to face, to set new objectives, to search for improvement, to draw new parameters, to leave behind old practices, among others. In Finland, education has changed the reality of Finns and the way their system works in multiple ways throughout the decades. From the old practice and values like the ones in their curricula around 1970, which is considered the golden year in Finnish education due to the switch established towards a new way of learning. Throughout this essay, I will analyze some of these historical structures of the Finnish educational institutions as well as their multifaceted and value-bound social connections, as well as how education has become part of the Finnish society to this day. I will analyze some of the challenges faced in developing school curricula and why Finland has succeeded relatively well compared to other nations.
