The concept of innovation in social economy. A review and a research agenda

A more recent form of organization known under the name of "social enterprise" has a great potential to innovate services, products and processes which can create social value. We have reviewed an array of social economy literature incorporating into it the concept of innovation. Following the grounded theory procedure we have analysed 59 papers in the field of social economy published between 1990 and 2014 so as to see the current state of knowledge regarding the innovative dimension of social enterprises. The innovative dimension of the social enterprise has been found to have been rather neglected by the research field, which tend to adhere to a more theoretical rather than empirical direction. A future research agenda is proposed here, so as to address this issue.

Advancement in information technology (IT) has led to major transformations in the way organizations operate, forcing them to invest in IT infrastructure so as to keep pace with competition and to retain Sustainability. The present paper approaches IT benefits in innovation process of SMEs, grouping them in three major categories: strategic, tactical and operational benefits. In the last section we present the results of preliminary study on IT benefits in SME’s from Romania and following research directions. Keywords— IT, innovation, strategic benefits, tactical benefits, operational benefits.

The contribution of social economy at local economical development through jobs creation and solutions to social problems has been recognized at the European level making social economy a high interest research field. Concepts such as social entrepreneurship or social enterprise are often mistaken associated with the non-profit or non-governmental sector that has a considerable role in addressing social needs the public sector is not able to deal with, making imperious to clarify the differences and similarities between them. The social dimension of public sector and social economy gives the latter the posiblity to use marketing tools such as different forms of public marketing - positive marketing, social marketing, anti-marketing and de-marketing - to achieve its goals. Due to the diverse activities of social enterprises, managers might need to adapt classic marketing approaches to the speci...

It aims at providing basic information on what open innovation is, under what form can be found, what motivates industry and university to collaborate and how knowledge is shared between the partners. Open innovation encourages both internal resource utilization such as external resources. Academia in the context of open innovation represents the science-based market enabling industry access to unpublished codified knowledge for innovation support through building on the most recent research findings. Science-based collaboration is considered to have positive performance results in loosely managed projects while market-based collaborations are suited to formal managed projects suggesting different managerial approaches depending on the type of partners.
The transparency of corporate sociale responsibility practice

Facing more and more acute challenges, worldwide, such as vulnerability of the internet network, the moral side of knowledge management or the relationship between human and artificial intelligence involves the individual and collective actors, animated features not only from intellectual aspiration to new discoveries, but what we might call “the ethics of the responsible legitimacy.” Therefore, this study has analyzed the availability of these companies’ websites and the manner they communicate their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, in order to have a full picture of CSR online communication of SMEs in Finland.

The following paper presents the Excessive Deficit Procedure initiated by European Union bodies with the aim of correcting the non-compliance of Member States in what concerns the thresholds regarding general budget deficit and public debt. The first part of the paper offers a short analysis of the general budget deficit in European Union while the second part focuses on legal aspects of Excessive Deficit Procedure and its requirements. In the end, the Excessive Deficit Procedure in Ireland, Great Britain and Greece is described for a better understanding of the concept implementation and its implications.

The paper focuses on investigating the current practices regarding small and medium sized enterprise (SME)-NGO partnerships for CSR to identify the benefits that can be derived by SMEs in terms of sustainability. The paper presents a literature survey and defines the underlying principles of collaborative partnering, carefully designed to enhance the prospects for success. A research on such partnerships in Romania and Finland for CSR projects was conducted and the results reported along with an analysis of partnership typology and key success factors.

Laura Bacali)

The concept of CSR is underpinned by the idea that corporations can no longer act as isolated economic entities operating in detachment from broader society. Traditional views about competitiveness, survival and profitability are being swept away. This paper examines the pressures for increased corporate attention to CSR and whether this attention is warranted and likely to be sustained.

We give a sketching algorithm, that constructs a small sketch from the stream of updates, and a reconstruction algorithm, that produces a B-bucket piecewise-constant representation (histogram) H for A from the sketch, such that kA ? Hk (1 + )kA ? H opt k, where the error kA ? Hk is either`1 (absolute) or`2 (root-mean-square) error. The time to process a single update, time to reconstruct the histogram, and size of the sketch are each bounded by poly(B; log(N ); 1= ). Our result is obtained in two steps.

Closing small open economy models

A number of modifications to the standard model have been proposed to induce stationarity. This paper presents a quantitative comparison of these alternative approaches. Five different specifications are considered: (1) A model with an endogenous discount factor (Uzawa-type preferences); (2) a model with a debt-elastic interest-rate premium; (3) a model with convex portfolio adjustment costs; (4) a model with complete asset markets; and (5) a model without stationarity-inducing features. The main finding of the paper is that all models deliver virtually identical dynamics at business-cycle frequencies, as measured by unconditional second moments and impulse response functions. The only noticeable difference among the alternative specifications is that the complete-asset-market model induces smoother consumption dynamics.
