This paper reflex on the development of the concept of an Archaeology with the City, expanding th... more This paper reflex on the development of the concept of an Archaeology with the City, expanding the concepts of Archaeology in the City, of the City and for the City. Such new concept was developed within the scope Urban archeology projects in the City of São Paulo, in dialaogue with proposals from Sociomuseology, since most researches aimed at musealization of Archeology. Despite archaeology with the city being born from encounters between Urban archaeology and Sociomuseology, this path also brought up closer dialogues with Public and Collaborative archaeology, safeguarding the specificities of considering the city an Archaeological Site, as usual among archaeologists working with urban contexts. Thus, new challenges are posed to the practice of Archaeology with the City.
Urban Archeology in the city of São Paulo provided the development of a new concept, extrapolatin... more Urban Archeology in the city of São Paulo provided the development of a new concept, extrapolating those already established for this theme: archeology in, of and for the city; however, adding them and exploring aspects that are close to public archeology, synthesized in the idea of an archeology with the city. Its development, however, was firstly through aspects related to Sociomuseology, in a task within the perspective of a Nomadic Social Science and guided by the process of resignification. Together with these, there is the factor of thinking about a city of the proportions of São Paulo, considering it as an archeological site and with a perspective of no social exclusion.

Na Arqueologia Urbana há um princípio básico: considerar o processo de urbanização de um territór... more Na Arqueologia Urbana há um princípio básico: considerar o processo de urbanização de um território. Tal premissa proporciona ao arqueólogo lidar não somente com o contexto arqueológico (abandono), mas também com o contexto sistêmico (vida). Esse último se reflete no olhar sobre os vestígios do passado e no processo de ressignificação, que os recoloca no contexto sistêmico (tempo atual). Nesse caminho se dá uma nova funcionalidade ao que foi abandonado, como uma postura crítica ao presente que, através da musealização, pautada pela Sociomuseologia, carrega um almejar de futuro. Exercer-se uma Arqueologiacom a Cidade que se preocupa, na análise crítica do território, para o entendimento de que o lugar é uma escolha, no qual um porvir deve ser sonhado.

Sao Paulo is a huge city in constant transformation, renovation and modification of its spatialit... more Sao Paulo is a huge city in constant transformation, renovation and modification of its spatiality. Its population is formed by 11 million people who are directly related to changes in the urban landscape, both proposing and making it or even experiencing its senses. However, the metamorphosis marks the ground of the city, above and below it. It's the past becoming present through a camouflage: marks of the preterit reshaping themselves and forming another new fragments of that "Pauliceia". Quadra 090 is one of those pieces, an archaeological site in the central city area related to issues like garbage, infrastructure and identity. Those marks have much of what forms the present and can serve as a criticism for the problems of that great metropolis. Musealizing the urban archeology is more than looking for traces under the ground. It should consider living beings, spaces and feelings in the subsoil; it should ponderate spaces for discussing the city, mainly issues related to the Sao Paulo Archaeology, as Sitio Morrinhos/Centro de Arqueologia de Sao Paulo. Therefore, considering these concerns in the musealization of the urban archeology, mainly trying an eye over the past as a part of the present, we will be practicing an Archeology with the City.
