Using mixed methods involving focus group discussions (n=55: male=26, female=29) and survey (n=337: male=247, female=90). The results indicated that agricultural activities in rice and corn production in the Philippines remain male-dominated despite having a more visible women's participation in grain production, especially in rice, but quite limited in corn production. While women's participation are also seen in decision-making on livelihood activities and operationalization of the use of weather and climate information, tactical and strategic farm decisions, such decisions are still male-dominated. In female-headed households, female farmers take the lead in decision-making processes in the household related to unpaid activities and income-generating activities. Both female and male farmers share their knowledge and strategies towards climate change adaptation, although there are areas in which women tend to have lesser decision-making participation and responsibilities. However, as women acquire more knowledge about climate change. They tend to share more responsibilities and are more involved in farm management such as scheduling of farm activities, expenses, and investments.

It also determined the factors affecting willingness-to-pay (WTP) of farmers for improved weather and seasonal climate information and drew policy implications and identified strategies to improve weather and seasonal climate information for better risk management in agricultural production. The study applied both parametric and nonparametric methods to estimate the mean WTP of farmers. The payment is in terms of crop harvest, but a monetary equivalent value was computed. Results of the logistic regression showed a WTP of PhP 633 per ha per cropping for an improvement of weather and seasonal climate forecast or a total value of PhP 5,141,745 per cropping. Credit has provided a way to meet the requirements for rice production and household needs especi... more Credit has provided a way to meet the requirements for rice production and household needs especially during the period when farmers wait for their harvest. Further examination on timing of funds of rice farmers is necessary so that their demand for credit can be sufficiently met. The study aimed to evaluate the credit needs of rice farmer-households in Tayabas City located in Quezon Province, Philippines. This was done by interviewing 90 randomly selected rice farmers with an aid of pre-tested questionnaire. The households' credit needs were assessed using funds flow analysis. Households' credit needs are the amount of deficit incurred from spending all expenditures. It was found out that farmers' demand for credit was at maximum during the months of December and June since these months were the start of cropping periods. Thus, they acquired necessary inputs and paid laborers. On the other hand, no demand for credit was observed during the months of March, April, August, September, and October. This was due to significant amount of income earned from rice farming and other farms. The findings of the study provide some implications on timing of credit distribution and monitoring of clients' funds flow. Furthermore, sufficient livelihood programs must be provided by the government to offset capital insufficiency especially during period of waiting for harvest.
