This essay problematizes how nuclear deterrence in Northeast Asia affects China's security interests. Using descriptive research, this study examines the nuclear asymmetry between China and the United States and three cases of nuclear deterrence in Northeast Asia: China-US tensions over Taiwan, North Korea's nuclear capability, and Japan's possession of weaponizable plutonium; and closes with a brief note on conflict over the South China Sea. This study contends that nuclear deterrence poses serious concerns to China because of the tactical, economic, and political ramifications of sustained nuclear arms races. Lastly, despite the outcomes of a potential China-US conflict escalating, China may find it beneficial to retain its nuclear strategic environment.

With its drastic effects on the soil and on marine life, bamboo has been utilized as an alternative material in lieu of plastic in daily products to prevent further damage brought upon by plastic pollution.
This research paper is a comparative analysis between two bamboo companies, specifically Japan's WASARA and the Philippines' The Bamboo Company. It primarily aims to answer the question: Will bamboo products in Japan and the Philippines lead to a more ecologicallysustainable economy? Using descriptive research of bamboo's social impact data, this study compares the two companies in terms of historical background, company profile, motives for utilizing bamboo and producing bamboo wares. Japan's WASARA and the Philippines' The Bamboo Company still differed in three categories: ecological objectives, product longevity, and economic impacts. In the Philippine context, The Bamboo Company has contributed to the local economy by providing economic opportunities to fellow Filipinos while simultaneously promoting ecological daily products. Furthermore, the surge in the local bamboo market in other regions such as Bicol and Cordillera opens up the possibility of expansion and partnerships with this company. Meanwhile, WASARA's local and global success not only promotes less reliance on plastic but may also reduce Japan's reliance on fossil fuel products. The paper shares insights on the current challenges and future trajectory of the bamboo industry in relation to Japan and the Philippines' pursuit of ecologically sustainable development.

To carry out the rhetoric analysis of these seven songs, three concepts of the aforementioned framework, ethos, logos, and pathos, were used to categorize the lyrics according to how they appeal to the public, therefore identifying how societal problems during Franco's dictatorship were acknowledged in its lyrics. Through ethos, the values that Serrat promoted to fight against the censorship imposed by Franco were identified. Through logos, the declarations that question the Francoist regime were determined. Finally, through pathos, the emotional appeals of the songs were distinguished. Apart from the appeals, the figures of speech employed in the lyrics and the melody of each song were likewise considered in the analysis. In examining the figures of speech, it was found how Serrat creatively expreses his rejection of the dictatorship. In addition, the manner in which Serrat decided on the melody in order to complement the message implied was also appreciated. At the end of the investigation, we observed that the concept of pathos stands out, with five out of seven songs appealing to emotions. Four different emotions were later identified. Only one song appeals to ethos and the same goes for the category of logos.
