It is ironic to know that the Filipino agricultural producers, the sector that feeds the country, are landless and less equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for scientific or modern farm methods and receives lesser support from the government (Clemente, 2014).

Commuters and motorists have been complaining about congested roads, unreliable transport system, ineffective traffic enforcers, and inefficient government planning. The time that is being eaten up due to traffic congestion is equivalent to P 2.4 billion a day in potential income, according to a study conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This is still expected to increase up to P 6 billion if there will be no traffic intervention (JICA, 2014).
Time lost due to traffic jam could have been used for productive pursuits. The time that we spend on the road can also be used to have more rest and spend more time with our families at home. This is important to us since the significance of family continues to be apparent in Filipino culture.

Guided by Heidegger’s interpretive phenomenology, coordinated management of meaning (CMM theory) and muted group theory as theoretical groundings, the researchers have analyzed and interpreted the utterances of the participants. Based on their experiences which were extracted via in-depth interviews and FGDs research methodology, findings show that street dwellers are not contented, unhappy and feeling deprioritized with regard to how the government communicatively coordinates and executes its clearing actions.

One of the main factors is the geographical locations of many areas in the Philippines where communities, such as ethnic minorities or indigenous people, reside. The physical inaccessibility of these communities makes it challenging for the news producers to gather materials for a story. Consequently, this trickled down to just conveniently gather accessible stories in urban events prompting media critics to call this Manila-centric or city-centric reporting.
