A critical challenge in evaluating the viability of financing higher education correlates with the difficulty of connecting educational inputs with output. The argument for investment in tertiary erudition hinges on technological advances and demographic change, whereby individuals require periodic retraining within the information age, and increasing labor productivity could reduce the effects of an aging population. The aim of the present work was to view the current system of funding tertiary education in Greece and review some evidence on the economic benefits of funding tertiary education in this Country. In spite of funding obstacles, empirical evidence indicates that graduates improve economic output and social cohesion. Prioritize funding policies for equitable access, and investigate optimal levels of taxpayer subsidy in future research. While allocative problems permeate the higher education sector within different countries, observational and empirical evidence illustrate that graduates improve economic productivity and increase the tax revenues. Overall, funding tertiary education promotes economic development in the global knowledge economy that is undergoing evolution. In addition to having direct effects on the quality of human capital, funding for postsecondary education also has indirect effects on research infrastructure, innovation and economic growth. Investments in higher education and research and development are essential for fostering economic growth, technological progress, and competitiveness.

The aim of the present work was to assess the issue of school conflict, its sources, and the effectiveness of different conflict management styles in Secondary Education school units in Greece. Teachers (n = 128) from twelve randomly selected schools in the region of Epirus, NW Greece, participated in the present work. Teachers' views on their school Principals' leadership style as well as the sources, the type(s), and the severity of conflict in their school unit were surveyed. Conflict appeared to be a frequent issue in schools. Frequent sources of conflict included interpersonal and organizational parameters. School leaders exhibited a range of conflict management styles. Compromise and Collaborative styles were frequently observed, followed by Smoothing and Forcing. Avoidance was less frequently exhibited by school leaders. The transformational and transactional leadership styles exhibited were equally effective in successful conflict resolution, whereas a laissez-faire leadership style was not. The purpose of the study was to assess the employment status of the graduates and the survey also included general questions about age, employment status and salary. The survey revealed there was no correlation between age, sex or degree classification (X 2-test, P>0.05) and salary or career expectations, and that the interviewed graduates consider family network, foreign languages or computer literacy to be more important than the degree itself in getting their first job in the hospitality industry.

The Maslach Burnout Inventory, as adapted for teachersGr in Greece, was used to assess the perceived level of burnout among secondary school teachers in the region of Achaia, West Greece. The results indicate high level of professional burnout, emotional exhaustion, and personal accomplishment, but low depersonalization in the teachers. There was a significant effect of personal factors on the perceived level of burnout. Age, length of service and number of children, had a moderating effect on burnout levels. Compared to men, women expressed higher level of burnout. The results indicate that teachers had high levels of personal accomplishment, while depersonalization was higher in teachers with less than five years of service. It would be interesting to further investigate the changes in the elements of work burnout in different subjects and levels of education.
