Godson Okafor

I am a Professor of New Media and Public Relations. Currently, with the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. I obtained my PhD from Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield, UK. In 1997, I got involved in Tropical Disease Research (TDR) with the World Health Organization (WHO) first as a Social Scientist (SS) and as Principal Investigator (PI) in a Multi-Country Study on the Community Direct Treatment of Onchocerciasis with Ivermectin 1997-2001. I have over 65 published works in peer reviewed journal plus book chapters mainly in international Journals. I also have experience in University administration having been in the Governing Council of my University and Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze,  Anambra State, as well as Chairman of the Governing Council, Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo 2017-2019. Previously, I was Sub Dean of my Faculty 2012-2014, University Public Relations Officer (PRO) 2003-2007, Director, Infrastructure and Development 2014-2019, Director JUPEB 2020. Currently, I am the Director, Open and Distance Learning Program of my University 2020. I am married with children. I have also travelled widely both within Nigeria and Africa, as well as outside the African continent.
