
Vladimir Kušan
Vladimir Kušan, PhD (1955) is a permanent employee of OIKON Ltd. from 2002 as head of Natural Resources Division and from 2006 as member of board. He is married with two children (son 28 and daughter 26). He works for 30 years in variety of companies and institutions. From 1979 till 1986 he was employed as forest management planner in forest management offices in Zagreb and Osijek. He has been 17 years in scientific research and high education dealing with photogrammetry, remote sensing, surveying, GIS, DEM, GPS, forest inventory and cartography. During that time Vladimir Kušan was trying to improve forest inventory and management practice in Croatia. At the Department of Forest Management, Faculty of Forestry Zagreb, he established remote sensing and GIS laboratory. He was participant/leader of variety research projects financed by: Ministry of Science and Technology Croatian Forests European Space Agency, Croatian Water Management Enterprise and Ministry of defence.He made big efforts to implement remote sensing methods, geographical information system, digital elevation models and global positioning system in forest inventory and management. For that purpose, he made several pilot projects, seminars and summer schools. The results of the pilot projects were applications for the practical use of GIS and remote sensing in forest management, forest inventory, ecological studies and methodology for monitoring forest conditions.
