All children including those with disabilities have the rights to experience play for their development. However, children with disabilities often face problems at public playgrounds, entertainment and amusement areas, due to the lack of ample provisions to cater to their special needs. Nowadays, many studies and debates among researchers regarding the importance of the children playground design have been conducted, however, 'inclusive' design in the children playground seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Inclusive playgrounds should be designed to provide a safe place where children of all abilities can play together, and are developmentally appropriate for children with and without disabilities. Therefore, this article is aims to describes the challenges faced in implementing Universal Design on children public playground. A scoping review method on the recent literature of inclusive play space and universal design was used to explore, locating, analysing and summarising the research findings on the nominated topic. A limited range of scoping reviews was identified, and a summary of their results were presented in two major themes. Due to limited available literature on the particular topic, the article may not able to provide a high level of rigour as systematic reviews but it generally helps to provide an overview on the research area and provide a timely summary of current evidence that can be used to encourage construction professional practitioner in incorporating Universal Design in children public playground. The outcomes of this paper can serve as a theoretical base for the development of model designed to ensure that above all, children with disabilities would have the right to play in these inclusive playgrounds safely and thus contribute to Malaysia's social sustainability and development.

This research study aimed to contribute to improving construction cost management by identifying the key issues which contribute to such drawbacks, and developing conceptual solutions to mitigate them. The design science approach has been selected as the overall research method. Design science approach has been augmented through an analysis to the root cause of each identified key issue, an inference of countermeasure to the each root cause (conceptual solution), and synthesis of the (practical) solutions. This research has identified failure to forecast, failure to support improvement opportunities, costs being considered as resulting from action, neglect of value consideration, poor support for inter-organizational cost management, negative influence on behaviour, and constraints created by budgeting, a...

Hence, the factors of green cost premium that are commonly cited as a crucial barrier toward sustainable construction practice must be investigated. Based on the analysis of the existing literature (e.g.: conference paper, journal article), there are 27 factors, that classified into seven elements, that contribute to the cost differential. However, few studies have been conducted on green cost premium in developing countries. Therefore, this study attempts to fill this gap and is expected to contribute to the discussion on green cost premium to improve sustainable construction implementation.

Abstract Purpose – This paper highlights the current level of professional ethics standard in the construction industry in a developing economy and how ethics influences the quality of construction projects. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted on a selected sample of a construction industry in Malaysia that has a fast developing economy. Findings-The findings amongst others indicate that various forms of unethical conducts that could have significant impact on the quality of construction were found in the construction industry. The findings also suggest that professional ethics is a prerequisite to attaining a sustained and acceptable of quality in construction. Originality/value – apart from linking professional ethics to the quality of construction, this papers suggests ways to enhance professionalism among construction professionals to improve quality in construction including: imposing heavier penalties to those who are found to act unethically, attending ethics training programme and having regular ethical awareness workshops regularly. The construction industry needs to achieve internationally accepted quality levels to ensure that the construction industry is well positioned to support the nation's overall economic growth and in meeting various challenges at the national and international levels.

Hence, this paper, which is an initial outcome from a doctoral study, systematically reviews the literature on traditional cost management and emerging issues dating back to 1977 with the aim to identify the historical evolution of cost management and its shortcomings. Some solutions to overcome the drawbacks in traditional cost management are then proposed. Possible gaps and claims without sufficient justification and future direction for the research development are discussed. The study is based on the analysis of a large number of publications on cost management (books, journal articles, and conference papers) using Google Scholar search engine and relevant databases.

The primary concern was with the current situation of the issues being researched in the area of construction cost management and more specifically with what exactly would represent the frequency of the research area being researched and tries to understand and explain a phenomenon behind it, this indeed will help in finding the gaps towards directing the future study of this research activity. It looks at the issues being discussed and actively research in this area dating back to 1983 with the aim to contribute a framework for the categorization of literature linked to construction cost management. The study is based on the analysis of a large number of publications on construction cost management which include books, journal articles and conference papers using relevant databases.
