The research aims to investigate the mechanical properties and broaden the potential uses of wove... more The research aims to investigate the mechanical properties and broaden the potential uses of woven ramie-reinforced epoxy composites by incorporating hybrid fillers. The study utilized rice husk filler (RHF), Cinnamon inner filler (CIF), and Syzygium grande filler (SGF) as hybrid materials in producing laminated ramie/epoxy composites. The composites were created by manually stacking woven ramie fibre with natural fillers with mesh sizes 100 and varying concentrations. This study conducted tests to evaluate composite materials' tensile, flexural, and impact properties and examine how adding fillers affects these properties. The result showed that the concentration of fillers at 10 wt.% has achieved the highest tensile properties compared to other concentrations. Cinnamon inner filler composites had the maximum tensile strength among the various filler materials. Compared to all the different hybrid samples, adding CIF in woven fibre had the highest tensile strength of 36.25 MPa, flexural strength of 52.27 MPa, and impact strength of 0.337 J. This may be due to the compatibility between cellulose fibres, CIF, and epoxy matrix. The utilization of an optical microscope facilitated the investigation. Abaca fiber which is also known as Musa textilis is a tropical banana species grown primarily for... more Abaca fiber which is also known as Musa textilis is a tropical banana species grown primarily for its fiber. It has several advantages when used as a reinforcement in polymer composites caused by its great mechanical performance, increase cellulose content, low cost, and abundant availability. It is important to note that the structure of the fibers used as reinforcing materials is a critical aspect of fabricating a strong polymer composite. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effects of layering as well as fiber orientation towards the mechanical characteristics of woven abaca-reinforced epoxy composites. Furthermore, this comprised the application of hand lay-up technique as well as hydraulic press molding in producing 2, 3, and 4 layers of woven abaca-reinforced epoxy composites after which the mechanical properties were analyzed based on its orientation in the warp and weft direction. The results showed that an increase in the number of layers from 2 to 4 did not affect the tensile and flexural properties at every layered stacking sequence of the fiber. Meanwhile, the material in the warp direction indicated a greater tensile as well as flexural properties in comparison to the weft direction. This means the number of layers and orientation of the woven abaca in epoxy composite possesses a significant influence towards the composites' mechanical properties.

This work aims to investigate the influence of the combination of between agriculture waste, rice... more This work aims to investigate the influence of the combination of between agriculture waste, rice husk (RH) and domestic plastic waste, recycled polypropylene (RPP) in producing environmentally friendly materials. In the current investigation, four distinct compounds were selected to identify the most effective combination for achieving the highest result of mechanical properties outcomes. Samples were created with variable RH concentrations (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% by weight). The results showed that RH-RPP with 20% of RH had the highest mechanical properties. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images prove the enhanced mechanical characteristics. In addition, the water absorption and thickness swelling analysis show that RH-RPP composites with 20% RH concentration produce competitive results of 1.14% and 2.06%, respectively. Therefore, the finding from the present study summarized that the combination of RH and RPP with 20% of RH percentage had a great potential in producing competitive eco-friendly material for engineering applications especially for packaging materials. The microstructures and mechanical properties of aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) reinforced by ... more The microstructures and mechanical properties of aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) reinforced by varying weight percents of silicon carbide (SiC = 2.5%; 5.0%; 7.5 wt.%) combined with magnesium and zinc oxide nanoparticles using the stir casting method were investigated. The techniques of Optical Emission Spectrometer, optical microscopy, Vickers microhardness, and tensile test were used to characterize the aluminum hybrid composites. Fine microstructures and good consolidation were found for all samples, with microhardness values ranging from 107.04 to 151.54 HV and tensile strength ranging from 79.15 to 124.05 N mm-2. The research found that incorporating hybrid composites refined grain size and enhanced the tensile strength of the composite material. Furthermore, study findings also indicated that a higher SiC percentage enhanced the spread of grain sizes and promoted the formation of the Al-SiC-ZnO-Mg phase, leading to increased AMCs hardness and tensile strength.

It emphasizes the potential of these composites as a sustainable and cost-effective substitute in the automotive industry. Sawdust particles with a mesh size of 100 and weights of 10%, 20%, and 30% are mixed with epoxy resin in this experiment so that tensile stress and tensile modulus under load can be observed in detail. The fabrication process involved the manual lay-up of tensile specimens. The results indicate that the tensile properties of composites containing 20% sawdust are an unexpected 30% superior to those comprising 10% filler loading. In contrast, micrograph tensile fracture examinations unveiled the presence of agglomeration and air bubble, factors that compromised the accuracy of the findings. The results demonstrate the critical nature of optimizing the sawdust content to attain the optimal equilibrium in the mechanical properties of composites. It is recommended that future applications implement additional microstructural control measures and refine the fabrication process to enhance precision and dependability.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kuat arus terhadap kekuatan bending pada akar las dan kekerasan pada daerah logam las, base metal dan Heat Affected Zone. Bahan yang digunakan adalah plat baja karbon rendah tebal 8 mm. Pada kedua bagian sisi ujung yang disambung masing-masing dibuat groove sudut 30 derajat yang membentuk sebuah kampuh V sudut 60 derajat. Pada kampuh V dilas dengan proses SMAW posisi 1G dengan variasi arus pengelasan 70 A, 90 A dan 110 A dengan elektroda berdiamter 2,6 mm. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa kekuatan bending terendah 23,20 kg/mm2 pada arus 70 A dan tertinggi 26,82 kg/mm2. Kekerasan tertinggi 192,40 kg/mm2 pada daerah logam las 110 A.Kata kunci: Baja Karbon rendah, SMAW, kampuh V, kekuatan bending dan kekerasan.

The purpose of the study was to develop a gasification stove design with the concept of Top Lith Up Draft on several variations of the column, namely without columns, column 2 holes and column 4 holes using cashew shell fuel which produces optimal gas fuel. The research method is the Top Lith Up Draft method, which is a gasification process semi-gasifier technology method that can produce fewer emissions that can harm human health. Penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa daya serap air pada batako tinggi yaitu lebih dari yang ditentukan oleh SNI mengenai syarat fisis penyerapan air rata-rata maksimal pada batako, sehingga batako mudah ditumbuhi jamur dan rapuh.
