This study used a Randomized Complete Design (RCD). Forty white male rats of the Sprague-Dawley strain were placed into the following five groups: normal and diabetic rats that were fed either the standard feed and metformin, BFB, BFB, and metformin or BFF with a zinc dose of 0.54 mg. A single dose of STZ (40 mg/kg) was used to induce diabetes in the rats. The intervention lasted for 30 d. The differences in MDA and SOD levels between groups were determined with one-way ANOVA followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test, and the significance of the statistical level was set at p<0.05. The intervention with BFB and metformin, BFB, and BFF resulted in a decrease in blood glucose levels. Populasi penelitian ini adalah semua lansia pre dan post menopause yang berkunjung ke posyandu lansia di Kecamatan Nanggalo Kota Padang sebanyak 48 orang. Data diolah dan dianalisis dengan analisis univariat untuk mendeskripsikan masing-masing variabel guna memperoleh gambaran karakteristik sampel dan analisis bivariat untuk mengetahui hubungan aktivitas fisik, pola konsumsi, asupan zat gizi dengan kesehatan tulang, menggunakan uji chi square dengan derajat kepercayaan 95% (a < 0,05). Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan rata-rata umur responden adalah 52,2 ± 7,24 tahun dan 50% diantaranva sudah menopouse. The specific objectives of the research were 1) to analyze zinc content of rice, 2) to analyze ef... more The specific objectives of the research were 1) to analyze zinc content of rice, 2) to analyze effect of cooking on zinc content of rice and 3) to identify the effect of cooking methods of rice on bioavailability of zinc. Zinc bioavailability was indicated by serum alkaline phosphatase activity, zinc serum and growth of Wistar rats. Boiled, steamed and puffed of Membramos, Cisadanes and Brown rice were used in this research. The results of this study showed that cooking methods affect zinc in rice. Zinc content decreased after cooking in all of cooking methods. The lost of zinc was found highest in puffed rice and lowest in steamed rice. When rats fed those rice-based diets, zinc serum was for all of treatments not significantly different. Measurement of serum alkaline phosphatase activity of rats fed steamed and boiled rice was significantly higher than control, but not for rats fed puffed rice. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Cross Sectionalstudy dengan sampel berjumlah 49 orang ibu hamil trimester IIIpada tiga kelurahan di wilayah kerjapuskesmas Air Dingin.Pengumpulandata dilakukan dengan cara primer dan sekunder yaitu melihat faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kepatuhan ibu hamil trimester III dalam mengkomsumsi tablet Sulfas ferrosus mengunakan uji statistik "Chi-Square" dengan tingkat kemaknaan a 0,05. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mcngetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan status gizi mahasiswa. Desain penelitian yaitu cross-sectional, dengan waktu penelitian dari bulan Juni - Juli 2009. Populasi adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu Kesehatan Masyarakat, dengan sampel sebesar 106 responden yang diambil secara Stratified Proportional Random Sampling. The study analysed differences in nutrition content of various bilih fish flour proportions in bi... more The study analysed differences in nutrition content of various bilih fish flour proportions in bilih fish bar with zinc and calcium as minerals of interest. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The proportion of bilih fish flour in the fish bars dough were of three levels, i.e. 30%, 40% and 50% of the total weight of flour. The data obtained were analyzed with one-way ANOVA, followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range test. The level of statistical significance was set at p<0.05. The best proportion based on its nutritional content was the 50% with the energy content of 327 kcal, protein content 22.75%, lipid content 11.99%, carbohydrate content 32.06%, moisture content 28.28%, ash content 4.44%, zinc content 4.58 mg, and calcium content 922.23 mg per 100 g. A serving size (±30 g) of treatment is able to suffice for 5.06-7.05% zinc and 0.87-16.77% calcium adequacy as well as the daily requirement of 2,150 kcal. Sensory evaluation showed that the treatments had no significant effects on the organoleptic attributes of the fish bars, except for taste (0.033). This bilih fish bar can be utilized as a source of zinc and calcium for high-risk groups such as children, adolescents, pregnant women, and people with diabetes.
