Dr. Aitor Garcés-Manzanera
I am a Tenured Associate Professor at the Atlantico Medio University (UNAM) and the Director of the Official Master's Program in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE). I also serve as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Murcia (UMU), where I lecture English in various degree programs at the Faculty of Education as an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Language Teaching (section: English Language Teaching). I earned my Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Murcia, where I also completed a Master's in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics and another Master's in English Language Teaching.
Previously, I was awarded a collaborative scholarship in German Studies at the UMU's Department of Translation and Interpretation. In September 2015, I served as a research fellow in the Department of English Studies, and in February 2016, I began my role as an Associate Lecturer. Beyond my teaching duties, I have supervised a large number of Bachelor's and Master's theses. Since September 2020, I have been working as an Adjunct Instructor of Academic English at the University of the People (California, USA), where I teach English Composition 1 and 2.
I am a member of the research group "E020-14 Applied Linguistics. Second Language Learning in Educational Contexts (LA_L2)" and have participated in six research projects funded nationally by SENECA, MINECO, and AEI. My research interests focus on exploring linguistic skills in both traditional and computer-mediated communication, as well as pen-and-paper communication. I have published various articles in specialized journals such as Miscelánea, Papeles, Espiral, Studies in Second Language Learning and Teaching, Tonos Digital, Didacticae, and Language Education Forum. Additionally, I have written and co-authored several books published by renowned publishers such as IGI Global, Dykinson, Adaya Press, Editorial Académica Española, and EditUM - Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Murcia.
