Creepy Mausoleum For 25 to 28mm Scale Table Top Miniature Wargaming

Wisps of fog float about the deathly quiet cemetery. A lonely crescent moon plays hide and seek with the heavy clouds in the early autumn sky. You have come to this burial ground in search of a forgotten family mausoleum belonging to the Langstrom family. The Langstroms were once an important clan in the nearby town. But the family tree had withered in recent years. Reginald Langstrom, the last of the line, failed to return from the Great War, joining the uncounted dead on a foreign battlefield.

You encountered a reference to the family in your library research into the case of several missing persons in the area. You hope to find evidence relating to the disappearances in the old family crypt that you now stand before. A deaths head stares down at you from above the massive metal door.

Wait, the silence of the shadows is broken by a snapping sound. Pricking your ears, you hear a rustling of something stirring among the dried leaves drifting through the gravestones and monuments. Something large is moving about on the other side of the mausoleum.

The cold metal of the pistol in your right hand grants you a feeling of protection against any antagonist you may encounter here among the dead. Raising the flashlight in your left hand, you move to the corner of the tomb. Peering around the moss covered corner stones, you snap the light on.

Your breath catches in your throat as the beam reveals the source of the noises. A grotesque man in tattered cloth is caught fully in the light. He lowers the soiled human limb it holds in its own hand. The creature turns it head to look directly at you, the cone of light reflecting off unnatural red eyes. You raise the gun and watch as the monster steps toward you!

This mausoleum is a kit bash of a plastic model train building. The windows have been sealed to indicate the windows being blocked in during construction. Moss spreads about the weathered walls and roof. Unkempt grasses hug the bottom of the walls.

This scenery piece can be used in your 25-28mm scale horror or pulp action table top miniature war gaming. It can also be used in many role-playing games including Call of Cthulhu. Designed for use with 25-28 mm scale game miniatures. The base measures 3-5/8  by 5-7/8 inches (92 x 148 mm). The piece stands 4-3/4 inches (120 mm) in height.

Cthulhu Obelisk A Totem of Power in H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos 25mm Scale Terrain

Caught in an unexpected fog bank, the tramp steamer Ulysses grounded itself on the sandy beach of an uncharted island. The crew set about repairing minor hull damage while awaiting a favorable tide that will hopefully float the ship off the beach. In the meantime, a small team of sailors were sent ashore into the island's interior in search of fresh water and foraged food. They found swarms of flying insects, some unusual fruits, and something else ...

The party discovered a patch of broken carved stones strewn about a small clear valley. Rising from the fog-laden ground appeared a tall obelisk.

Standing more than twice a man's height, the monolith is covered by writing in an unknown language. The unusual stone contains faint golden crystals.

But most odd is the carved visage that sits atop the obelisk. The creature depicted bears some semblance to the octopi the seamen are familiar with. But the men are overcome with an unexplained feeling of dread as they gaze upon the monument.

With a growing sense of unease, the sailors hurry to leave the valley and return to the Ulysses. All thoughts of foraging are forgotten. As they leave the field of stones, one or two swear they can hear a faint chanting on the breeze. They pick up their speed as they head for the distant beach all the while glancing over their shoulders!

This scenery piece stands about 3 inches (75 mm) tall. The base is 2 inches (25 mm) wide. It would useful in any Call of Cthulhu® game as well as many other horror and pulp role-playing games. This piece would work with miniatures in a variety of scales from 15mm to 28mm.

A Cthulhu Cult Roadside Shrine Plus A Second Shrine for 25-28mm Tabletop Terrain

Roadside shrines may pop up along any road or path in many game worlds. They come in all shapes and beliefs. Here are two for your consideration.

First, we have one apparently built by follows of the Old Ones from the Cthulhu Mythos by H. P. Lovecraft. The central image belongs to old Cthulhu himself.

The lower carvings of two human skulls indicate the subservient role played by mankind in the greater mythos. Arcane runes are carved into the back of the shrine as well.

Only a stubborn, stunted pale yellow-green lichen grows in the vicinity if the shrine. No other life seems willing to take hold in the area.

The second shrine appears to be of a more recognizable religious following.

Unlike the Cthulhu shrine above, this second one attracts more life forms to it. Grasses, moss, lichens, and more nestle at the base of the stone structure.

Both terrain pieces measure about 2 inches (50 mm) tall and are on bases that are 2 inches (50 mm) in diameter. The fantasy figure is a 25mm miniature included for scale.

Strange Arcane Stone Monuments in the Ruins 25-28mm Scale Gaming Terrain

Once a thriving city stood on these plains. But an ancient doom came to the city and destroyed it -- all of it. The buildings were ripped asunder, scattering building blocks across the level plains.

But wait, maybe not everything was destroyed. At the center of the ruins stands a strange group of stones. The faces of the stones are carved with arcane symbols. A terrible feeling of deep cold from the space between worlds flows from the odd shapes. Nothing living ventures near the stones, not even lowly insects. It is as if they create a zone where life itself is expelled!  Perhaps these stone monuments are related to the city's destruction.

These terrain pieces could appear in many different gaming scenarios. They could be the few remaining artifacts from an alien civilization discovered on a far flung world. An altar used by crazed cultists to summon a Great Old One from the Cthulhu Mythos by H. P. Lovecraft. A portion of dwarven ruins in a fantasy setting. Or even a sacrificial altar carved by natives in a remote rain forest waiting to be found by your pulp explorers.

Here is a second set of the arcane stones for your consideration:

These terrain pieces are best used with 25 to 28mm scale miniatures. The bases are about 2 inches (50mm) in diameter.  The stones stand about 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inches (42 to 48 mm) tall.
