
Marc Lenot
After his studies at the École Polytechnique and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Marc Lenot (Saint-Étienne, 1948) worked as an economist and a strategy and recruiting consultant before reinventing himself as an art critic in 2005. Since 2005, he has written an online reference blog on contemporary art, Lunettes Rouges, published by Le Monde (http://lunettesrouges.blog.lemonde.fr/). In 2009, he obtained a Master’s Degree from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales with a thesis on Czech photographer Miroslav Tichý. In 2016, he obtained a Ph. D. from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne with a doctoral thesis on contemporary experimental photography, under the direction of Michel Poivert. His book on the same subject, “Jouer contre les Appareils”, was published in June 2017 by Éditions Photosynthèses in Arles (http://photographie-experimentale.com/ ). He was the first “digital” member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics) in France, and in March 2014, competing with nine other French art critics, his oral presentation of the work of Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza won him the AICA France Prize, awarded by an international jury.

Vilém Flusser has frequently written the same texts in several languages, not only translating himself his initial text, but rewriting it, modifying it, enriching it through its various self-translations.
His best-known, most widely distributed and most translated book, "Fur eine Philosofie der Fotografie", of which he wrote and published four original versions, two in German, one in English and one in Portuguese.
The German versions have been translated in more than 20 languages. The original English version has been dropped in favor of a third-party traduction from German. And the Portuguese version, which is the mots complex and advanced, exists only in Portuguese.
The existence of these four original versions of the book allows one to develop an attempt at an original Flusserian textual critique on the basis of a thorough and detailed analysis of these texts.
This essay also presents the story of the publishing and the translations of the book, and analyzes the power apparatus behind the differences of treatment of the various versions.

Cet essai explore comment le corps humain peut être parfois transformé en appareil photographique : des artistes font d’une de leurs cavités corporelles une camera obscura. Paolo Gioli le fait avec son poing, Thomas Bachler, Lindsay Seers et d’autres avec leur bouche, et deux autres, dont Dani Lessnau, avec leur vagin. Une telle pratique s’inscrit dans un questionnement expérimental de la photographie en refusant l’usage d’un appareil traditionnel, en lien avec les théories de Vilém Flusser.

La photographie expérimentale contemporaine ne constitue pas à proprement parler une école ou un mouvement, mais simplement un courant, un moment entre le déclin de la photographie analogique documentaire traditionnelle et l’avènement de la photographie numérique à la fin du XXe siècle et au début du XXe siècle.
