The article examines some of the key factors that influenced the construction of the roman gender... more The article examines some of the key factors that influenced the construction of the roman gender and social model (I century BC-I century AD): military and colonial. Based on the analysis of the military moral and ethical postulates of the romans, it was found that they formed the basis of the gender "impenetrable model" and the absolute rejection of passivity. Thus, sexual passivity meant the same as defeat in battle or war. A striking example is the extrapolation of military action on love in almost all genres of Latin literature. Author also draws attention to the destructive tendencies and changes in traditional Roman morality associated with the military order. In this context, sexual violence becomes "legal" and acts as a kind of "male attribute". The perturbation of gender and social norms and their adjustment to war is traced on the example of the relief "Emperor Claudius and Britain" from Aphrodisia. The second, no less important factor, rising from the military is determined by the colonial. It was found that the presence of the military aristocracy of ancient Rome in foreign territories laid the foundations of a new gender and social model. Historical portraits of such famous Roman figures as J. Caesar and M. Anthony clearly demonstrate this. As a result, the process of Hellenization began on the Romans' own territory, which became the driving force of changes in the sociocultural paradigm of society. All this, in general, contributed to changes and expansion of the gender and social structure of the Romans.
