By examining how individuals, groups, and societies engage in practices, researchers can gain deeper insights into power relations, cultural change, and the interplay of agency and structure. The notion of "practice" has also been of interest to philosophers, who have considered it from a more conceptual perspective. One key figure in this regard is Gertrude Elizabeth Margaret Anscombe, a renowned 20th-century philosopher who made significant contributions to the philosophy of action, ethics, and metaphysics. Anscombe's work, deeply influenced by Ludwig Wittgenstein and Aristotle, sought to re-examine the foundations of moral philosophy and uncover more robust principles of morality. Her focus on practices offers a pathway to develop a deeper understanding of social phenomena, transcending disciplinary boundaries and providing conceptual resources for more empirically oriented disciplines.
