dedicated to the promotion of Albanian cultural heritage. Witnessing to
his father’s activity in Albania during the Fascist era, the archive treasures
rather important documents.
Photographic documentation forms an important part of the archive
which is of particular interest to scholars of various disciplines. In the
archive resides also documentation of legislation, displaying Tagliarini’s
intense activity in the construction of a tourist network in Albania.

Il 550º anniversario della morte di Scanderbeg è stato celebrato con eventi commemorativi sussegu... more Il 550º anniversario della morte di Scanderbeg è stato celebrato con eventi commemorativi susseguiti durante tutto il 2018, dichiarato dalle autorità albanesi “Anno di Scanderbeg”. Il contributo, prendendo spunto dalla rappresentazione fatta nei mezzi di stampa delle attività organizzate in Albania e all’estero in occasione della ricorrenza, propone una retrospettiva degli articoli pubblicati sulle pagine de «L’Osservatore Romano», quotidiano della Santa Sede, in occasione del V Centenario della morte dell’Athleta Cristi nel 1968. La rassegna stampa mira a
mettere in evidenza il significato simbolico di questo personaggio leggendario come ponte di comunicazione tra l’Albania e il Vaticano, anche e soprattutto in un periodo caratterizzato dal totale isolamento al quale il regime comunista aveva costretto il paese, imponendo addirittura l’ateismo di Stato, sancito per Costituzione.
The 550th anniversary of the death of Scanderbeg was celebrated with successive celebratory events throughout 2018, declared by the Albanian authorities “Year of Scanderbeg”. The contribution, inspired by the representation made in the media of the activities organized in
Albania and abroad on the occasion of recurrence proposes a retrospective of the articles published on «L’Osservatore Romano», a newspaper published by the Holy See, on the occasion of the V Centenary of the death of the Athleta Christi in 1968. The press review aims to highlight the symbolic meaning of this legendary character as a bridge of communication between Albania and the Vatican, also and especially in a period characterized by total isolation to which the communist regime had forced the country, imposing even state atheism, enshrined in the Constitution.
Përvjetori i 550º i vdekjes se Skënderbeut u përkujtua me evente dhe iniciativa pergjatë gjithë vitit 2018, që u deklarua nga autoritetet shqiptare “Viti i Skënderbeut”. Ky kontribut, i nxitur nga transmetimi i bërë nga mediat të aktiviteteve të organizuara me rastin e përvjetorit, propozon një pasqyrë shtypi në retrospektivë të artikujve të publikuar në faqet e «L’Osservatore Romano», organ shtypi i Selisë së Shenjtë, me rastin e 500 vjetorit të vdekjes së Athleta Christi më 1968. Kjo retrospektivë, synon të vërë në dukje vlerën simbolike të heroit legjendar si urë komunikimi mes Shqipërisë dhe Vatikanit, sidomos në një periudhë të karakterizuar nga izolimi total i vendit nga ana e regjimi komunist, që kishte imponuar madje dhe ateizmin shtetëror të sanksionuar në kushtetutë.

Il primo luglio del 1939 venne assegnato alla Presidenza del consiglio dei ministri del Regno d’Albania, Direzione generale per la stampa, la propaganda e il turismo (DGSPT), con l’incarico di consulente per il turismo albanese. Nell’esercizio delle sue funzioni intraprese numerose iniziative per la promozione del settore turistico, tra cui la fondazione dell’Agjencia Turistike Drin da egli diretta e che presto fu trasformata nell’ufficio redazionale della rivista “Drini – Bollettino
mensile del turismo albanese”.
Nel 1940 Francesco Tagliarini fu nominato amministratore delegato del neocostituito ente editoriale Distatpur, con sede a Tirana, grazie al quale videro la luce numerosi volumi volti a far conoscere la storia e le tradizioni culturali dell’Albania. Nell’agosto del 1943 fece ritorno in Italia.
Alla morte di Tagliarini, il figlio Franco nell’intento di sistemare il lascito del padre, trovò una quantità notevole di materiale documentario relativo all’attività di Francesco Tagliarini quale consulente del turismo in Albania
.Le foto dell’archivio Tagliarini, grazie alla disponibilità della famiglia sono state oggetto di numerose mostre e pubblicazioni, mentre la collezione della rivista “Drini”, fino a questo momento
unico riferimento in Italia per lo studio della storia del turismo albanese
negli anni Quaranta, è stata messa generosamente dalla famiglia a disposizione di studenti e studiosi che ne hanno fatto oggetto di diverse tesi di laurea e articoli pubblicati in riviste specializzate.

La pubblicazione, contenente la relazione del Sottosegretario,
Zenone Benini, diretta a Mussolini, rappresenta un vero e proprio progetto di sviluppo economico elaborato dal Sottosegretariato per la nuova Albania di visione fascista. Il contributo oltre alla presentazione di questo volume, provvede anche a fornire informazioni sulla documentazione prodotta dal Sottosegretariato durante la sua attività, conservata presso l’Archivio Storico Diplomatico del Ministero degli Affari Esteri.
The article is centered on the volume “Albania Fascista”, publication of the Undersecretariat for the Albanians Affair discovered during the research in the Central State Archives in Rome, fund of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The publication contains the Undersecretary's report, Zenone Benini, directed to Mussolini and represents an economic project elaborated by the Undersecretariat for the new fascist vision of Albania. The article aims to reconstruct the history of the office responsible for the administration of the Albanian affairs during the
Italian-Albanian Union, providing the reference regulatory framework regarding the institutional functions of the office. The contribution in addition to the presentation of this volume, also provides information about the documentation produced by the Undersecretariat during its
activity, preserved in the Historical Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

enthusiasts. It has promoted for over a century now environmental and
cultural consciousness, the discovery of natural attractions, the protection of historical and artistic heritage. It has as well promoted different countries and cultures too. Touring Club has over the years also devoted special attention to the press. In fact, it has regularly published periodicals since 1895.
The following essay focuses on four reportages published in the Revista
Mensile, from 1911 to 1919, and it aims to offer scholars interested in
Albanian history more detailed information on the tools of communication, description of the territory and of the landscape, without neglecting opinions and facts about the traditions and the customes of the locals. Exploring a long swathe of Albanian territory – from Shkodra to Vlora – these reportages are a valuable source of information about the-then Albania.

gretariato per gli affari albanesi. Un particolare interesse riveste la pubblicazio-
ne Albania fascista (1940), contenente la relazione del sottosegretario Zenone
Benin diretta a Mussolini in seguito alla sua ispezione in Albania. Il contributo,
oltre a presentare i temi trattati nel volume, fornisce anche informazioni di
carattere normativo relativamente alle funzioni istituzionali dell’ufficio.

La documentazione, conservata presso l’Archivio Centrale dello Stato offre un panorama completo delle funzioni dell’Ufficio in ambito di manifestazioni fieristiche e di attività di promozione in Italia e all’estero e permette di ricostruire l’iter burocratico seguito per lo svolgimento di queste funzioni. Oltre all’interesse per la storia degli enti e manifestazioni fieristiche, da evidenziare sono gli spunti per lo studio delle politiche di promozione degli scambi e delle esportazioni italiane e il cospicuo materiale fotografico, testimonianza indelebile dell’epoca d’oro dell’economia italiana.
The contribute makes a historical archival presentation of Exhibitions Bureau, Directorate General for Imports - Exports of the Ministry of Foreign Trade in the years of the economic Italian “miracle”. The documentation, preserved at the Central State Archive offers a full view of the functions of the Office in the field of exhibitions and the promotional activities in Italy and abroad, which allows to reconstruct the bureaucratic process followed for the performance of these functions. Beyond the interest for the history of institutions and exhibitions, to be highlighted are the cues for the study of the promotional politics of exchanges and Italian exports and the conspicuous photographic material, indelible evidence of the golden age of the Italian economy.
Attraverso le ricerche svolte presso l’Archivio Centrale dello Stato d’Albania, la Biblioteca Naz... more Attraverso le ricerche svolte presso l’Archivio Centrale dello Stato d’Albania, la Biblioteca Nazionale d’Albania a Tirana e l’Archivio Storico Diplomatico del Ministero degli Affari Esteri italiano a Roma il presente lavoro intende fornire nuove informazioni per lo studio e l’approfondimento della storia della rivista Drini, periodico sul turismo pubblicato a cura della Direzione del Turismo della Direzione Generale per la Stampa, Propaganda e Turismo a Tirana negli anni ’40. Tramite la documentazione archivistica si cercherà anche di analizzare le attività concernenti la pubblicazione e la diffusione della rivista e il ruolo che essa svolse nella promozione del settore turistico in Albania.
Through researches conducted at the Central State Archive of Albania , the National Library of Albania in Tirana and the Historical Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomatic Italian in Rome this work aims to provide new information for the study and the ' depth study of the history of the magazine Drini, periodic of tourism published by the Directorate of Tourism of the Directorate General for the Press, Propaganda and Tourism in Tirana in the 40s . Through archival documents we will also seek to analyze the activities relating to the publication and dissemination of the journal and the role it played in the promotion of the tourism sector in Albania.

Il presente lavoro è una guida alle fonti, uno strumento di ricerca che vuole presentare nel modo... more Il presente lavoro è una guida alle fonti, uno strumento di ricerca che vuole presentare nel modo più esaustivo possibile senza la pretesa della completezza, le fonti archivistiche presenti in Italia e in Albania sulle relazioni esistenti fra i due paesi in ambito energetico.
L’idea nasce dalla constatazione che gli studi inerenti le relazioni italo-albanesi, sono in prevalenza basati su fonti documentarie unilaterali, e prive di una visione d’insieme delle fonti presenti in entrambi i paesi. La scelta di concentrarsi sull’ambito energetico è stata determinata dal fatto che gli studi relativi alla tematica erano riferiti solo ad alcuni specifici aspetti della questione e anche dall’interesse mostrato in quel periodo da società petrolifere internazionali per le risorse petrolifere albanesi.

cultural consciousness, the discovery of natural attractions, the protection of historical and artistic heritage. It has as well promoted different countries and cultures too. Touring Club has over the years also devoted special attention to the press. In fact, it has regularly published periodicals since 1895.
The following essay focuses on four reportages published in the Revista
Mensile, from 1911 to 1919, and it aims to offer scholars interested in
Albanian history more detailed information on the tools of communication, description of the territory and of the landscape, without neglecting opinions and facts about the traditions and the customes of the locals. Exploring a long swathe of Albanian territory – from Shkodra to Vlora – these reportages are a valuable source of information about the-then Albania.

ministri dell’Archivio centrale dello Stato, documentazione relativa al Sottose-
gretariato per gli affari albanesi. Un particolare interesse riveste la pubblicazio-
ne Albania fascista (1940), contenente la relazione del sottosegretario Zenone
Benin diretta a Mussolini in seguito alla sua ispezione in Albania. Il contributo,
oltre a presentare i temi trattati nel volume, fornisce anche informazioni di
carattere normativo relativamente alle funzioni istituzionali dell’ufficio.
The contribute makes a historical archival presentation of Exhibitions Bureau, Directorate General for Imports - Exports of the Ministry of Foreign Trade in the years of the economic Italian “miracle”. The documentation, preserved at the Central State Archive offers a full view of the functions of the Office in the field of exhibitions and the promotional activities in Italy and abroad, which allows to reconstruct the bureaucratic process followed for the performance of these functions. Beyond the interest for the history of institutions and exhibitions, to be highlighted are the cues for the study of the promotional politics of exchanges and Italian exports and the conspicuous photographic material, indelible evidence of the golden age of the Italian economy.
Through researches conducted at the Central State Archive of Albania , the National Library of Albania in Tirana and the Historical Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomatic Italian in Rome this work aims to provide new information for the study and the ' depth study of the history of the magazine Drini, periodic of tourism published by the Directorate of Tourism of the Directorate General for the Press, Propaganda and Tourism in Tirana in the 40s . Through archival documents we will also seek to analyze the activities relating to the publication and dissemination of the journal and the role it played in the promotion of the tourism sector in Albania.
L’idea nasce dalla constatazione che gli studi inerenti le relazioni italo-albanesi, sono in prevalenza basati su fonti documentarie unilaterali, e prive di una visione d’insieme delle fonti presenti in entrambi i paesi. La scelta di concentrarsi sull’ambito energetico è stata determinata dal fatto che gli studi relativi alla tematica erano riferiti solo ad alcuni specifici aspetti della questione e anche dall’interesse mostrato in quel periodo da società petrolifere internazionali per le risorse petrolifere albanesi.
