Design in Partnership, Additive Manufacturing, COVID19 The shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) caused by the pandemic of COVID-19 has led design research groups, designers, and maker community from several countries to face this demand by offering, through additive manufacturing, relatively low cost artifacts. The aim of this paper is to discuss how the Design in Partnership methodology impacted the solutions developed, and the results of the emergency confrontation action carried out at PUC-Rio. The project made possible the donation of about 20000 face shields, 5000 protection goggles, and 150 ventilation valves. Besides the amount of equipment distributed, the development of this action allowed the disclosure about the designer's role on the search for effective solutions, especially on collaborative work among diverse areas.

Elastic deformations of the tape across its width and length directly influence the temporary scale of information display if these elastic lengthening of the tape may be compared according to its value with the dimensions of magnetized zones on the paths of the magnetic tape. To estimate the tape length increase, the theoretical investigations of the elastic magnetic tape strain are conducted under the effect of load distributed at its ends. Theoretically the problem is investigated by solving the equation of elasticity theory for plain deformed state. When solving the problem in an analytic way by means of Fourier method, a system of ordinary differential equations is obtained that is solved by constant variation method or by means of Duhamel integral.

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotic VATS (RVATS) anatomic pulmonary resections benefit from 3D understanding of the patient's anatomy. These procedures demand precision and planning for improved outcomes mainly for conservative surgery as sublobar anatomic resections. Display of patient's 3D data through VR, MR and AR is a useful tool for surgical planning by providing the surgeon with a true and spatially accurate representation of the patient's anatomy. An illustrative case is presented to exemplify the application of this new technology.

As the disease spread across continents culminating in a pandemic, countries suffered from a shortage of personal protective equipment. In Brazil, the first case was recorded on February 2020. This study aims to describe the experience of creating an interinstitutional network to meet the pandemic’s demands and the experience of transforming an academic design laboratory into space for the production of personal protective equipment using 3D printing and laser cutting techniques. The actions described in this study, made it possible to meet the high emergency demand for PPE in the city of Rio de Janeiro, as well as the construction of knowledge both within the scope of building networks to solve complex social problems and about the possibilities of production in an academic environment. The work addresses and reflexes this action on society's perception of Design professionals.

Multi-beat 3D data sets of the TV (32 vol/s) were acquired in five subjects with various TV morphologies from the apical approach and analysed offline with custom-made software. Coordinates representing the annulus and the leaflets were imported into MeshLab (Visual Computing Lab ISTICNR) to develop solid models to be converted to stereolithographic file format and 3D print. Measurements of the TV annulus antero-posterior (AP) and medio-lateral (ML) diameters, perimeter (P), and TV tenting height (H) and volume (V) obtained from the 3D echo data set were compared with those performed on the 3D models using a caliper, a syringe and a millimeter tape. Antero-posterior (4.2 ± 0.2 cm vs. 4.2 ± 0 cm), ML (3.7 ± 0.2 cm vs. 3.6 ± 0.1 cm), P (12.6 ± 0.2 cm vs. 12.7 ± 0.1 cm), H (11.2 ± 2.1 mm vs. 10.8 ± 2.1 mm) and V (3.0 ± 0.6 ml vs. 2.8 ± 1.4 ml) were similar (P = NS for all) when measured on the 3D data set and the printed model. The two sets of measurements were highly correlated (r = 0.991). The mean absolute error (2D - 3D) for AP, ML, P and tenting H was 0.7 ± 0.3 mm, indicating accuracy of the 3D model of <1 mm. Three-dimensional printing of the TV from 3DTTE data is feasible with highly conserved fidelity. This technique has the potential for rapid integration into clinical practice to assist with decision-making, surgical planning, and teaching.

Regarding to pre defined pedagogy premises it is possible to elaborate educational programs for any type of theme. Health is one of the areas that are being influenced by the possibilities offered by social networking platform. There are already many ongoing projects dedicated to the teaching of health practice and concepts of health. In this context, this paper focuses primarily on the development of a solution for teachers and students engaged on their 3 rd year of undergraduate Medicine course, in the University Hospital. All the participants are enrolled in the Internal Medicine discipline, defining the student's entrance into the hospital routine. The model views for an open dialog that should allow an exchange of medical knowledge, in the sense of reaching a better solution for specific problems within each group.
