Secondo una profonda intuizione di Lev Šestov, nella tradizione occidentale, accanto alla visione... more Secondo una profonda intuizione di Lev Šestov, nella tradizione occidentale, accanto alla visione biblica del peccato originale, dove il male è il risultato di una libera scelta dell'uomo, sta la visione anassimandrea: il male è una colpa inscritta nel destino del vivente. Modelli opposti che convivono, confliggono e talvolta si intrecciano nel pensiero moderno, quando l'idea di Rivelazione inizia a essere negata o trascritta in termini di pura ragione. Di qui l'idea di una ricerca sul tema del peccato originale da Cusano a Solov'ev, affidando la redazione dei contributi sui singoli momenti e figure a storici della filosofia che fossero esperti nei diversi settori. Ad emergere è una pluralità di interpretazioni del male, della libertà dell'uomo e di Dio, che ridisegna e arricchisce il profilo della filosofia moderna, offrendo spunti di riflessione per la stessa teologia.

The article attempts a critical comparison with Totaro's arguments, of which ap preciates the hig... more The article attempts a critical comparison with Totaro's arguments, of which ap preciates the high level of philosophy. It covers three main points: the concept ion of the unconditioned, the relation of the finite with the absolute and the p erspectivism of truth. Very convincing are the defense of the ontological approa ch and the attempt to found ethics on the ontology. Just the close relationship between ethics and ontology should orient toward the affirmation of freedom as t he original principle. Finally, it seeks to show that the perspectivism of truth is better established in a hermeneutics that does not dissolve the truth but th ink it as inexhaustible.

However in modern thought, apart from few cases (such as in Pascal), philosophies have been a strategy to avoid facing the tragic. In the nineteenth century and in the twentieth century there has been a revival of tragic thought. The present paper, however, focuses on an indirect dimension of the tragic, investing the condition of philosophical thought, namely the tension between objectifying thought and speculative thought, which today appears as the conflict between analytical and hermeneutical thinking, and is reflected within the hermeneutic thought. The full awareness of this contrast leads the speculative thought to take the form of paradox.
