To define Roger Scruton's thought as conservatism means to describe a complex, all-encompassing theory, which winds from philosophical reflection towards different political orientations and then translates into everyday living practices. His is a dialectical theory. A theory that is based on empirical-phenomenological assumptions, attentive to the everyday, to the customary, to the normal. The question remains open as to the founding role of a metaphysical approach also in terms of a conservative political theory.

Con la sua rivelazione, lo Spirito Assoluto si scopre come la Verità stessa. Hegel dice che il modo adeguato di esprimersi della Verità è il pensiero concettuale, cioè: filosofico. Nel presente saggio tenterò di dimostrare come lo Spirito Assoluto, cioè: la Verità possa comunicarsi nella sua assolutezza anche nell’arte «sacra» dell’icona.
The «death of the Art» is a meaningfull sacrifice in order to let the Spirit reveals itself. According to its revelation, the Absolute Spirit acknowledges itself as the Truth itself. Hegel says that the proper mood in which the Truth communicate itself is the conceptual thought – that is to say: the philosophic thought. In the present essay, I’ll try to demonstrate that the Absolute Spirit, that is to say: the Truth itself, could communicate properly also in that kind of sacral art that is the art of the Icon.
