O objetivo do artigo é tratar da mídia enquanto produtora do medo e da sensação de insegurança que se fazem sentir de forma difusa na sociedade, propiciando o encarceramento em massa. Para tanto, serão usados aportes da criminologia crítica e da sociologia para compreender como tal relação contribui para produção de subjetividades que estimulam o grande encarceramento desconsiderando o outro em sua dimensão humana no contexto da pós-modernidade. ABSTRACT The article focuses on the relationship between media and the massive incarceration culture nowadays. The purpose of this article is to deal with the media as a producer of the fear and sense of insecurity that are perceived diffusely in society, leading to mass incarceration. In order to do so, it will be used contributions from critical criminology and sociology to understand how such a relationship contributes to the production of subjectivities that stimulate the great incarceration by disregarding the other in its human dimension in the context of postmodernity.
