Through qualitative research, this paper provides insights from eight education leaders working in State Schools in Malta on their perceptions of, and experiences in, the promotion and support of mental health and wellbeing among educators and students. The objective of the study is to examine how mental health and wellbeing are being promoted, addressed, and supported in schools. Eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with education leaders followed by a reflexive thematic analysis. Four themes emerged from the data, namely school philosophy, ethos, and leadership; mental health and wellbeing in schools; loss and grief; and Covid-19 and its impact on mental health and wellbeing in schools The findings suggest the need for more proactive and supportive considerations of mental health and wellbeing in schools in Malta, along with the implementation and evaluation of mental health and wellbeing whole-school projects in schools.

The main aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship and the impact of parental attachment, through the analysis of the participants' self-reported account and romantic styles in Italians emerging adulthood by using a multidimensional approach (trust, communication, closeness to father and mother). The 296 participants (19-29 years; 50.7% males) rated items of information on a questionnaire, regarding their perspective of their attachment to their mother/father and attitude toward love. Using a variablecentred approach and a person-centred approach, the results suggest that the respondents differed in levels of parental attachment or love styles and that the present parental attachment has a positive impact on their romantic relationship. It is possible to estimate romantic relationships and prevent manic relationships based on the individual's current perceptions of their attachment to the father or mother. The role of parents and paternal attachment, are still fundamental in Italian young adults. The role of communication with the mother, in particular, is controversial and should be further investigated.

Provides a constructive critique on the rigid psychopathological classifications used in mental health that end up creating a conditioned self‐confirming reality.Design/methodology/approachProposes to present an approach, which moves away from the traditional rigid categorizing definitions of mental disorders, to a constructivist perspective that considers human problems as dysfunctional systems of perception and reaction to reality.FindingsProvides literature that demonstrates how humans use interpretative tools to give order and definition to the world around them, but most often, end up forgetting that all their classifications, theories, tests and so forth, are mere human inventions. Presents various distinctive scientific research which evidence how those who are invested with the power of diagnosing mental sanity or insanity, are often trapped in their own theories and resulting diagnostic practice.Originality/valueThis paper puts forward the need in replacing a rigid deterministic model by an elastic and self‐corrective constructive‐strategic model of knowledge and intervention that guarantees the real efficacy and effectiveness of therapy.

Giorgio Nardone and his colleagues at the Centro di Terapia Strategica in Arezzo, Italy, have developed this constructivist approach via a strategic dialogue method that renders an initial diagnostic interview a deliberate and collaborative therapeutic intervention. Using SYPRENE, a systemic practice research network (Vitry et al., 2020), this article presents a reading of persistent psychological problems in terms of the RASs of avoidance and/or control in which they are embedded, and then demonstrates with a clinical vignette how this grid can guide therapeutic prescriptions.

Design/methodology/approach-The use of non-ordinary logic, in understanding and in solving seemingly bizarre, over-the-lines human behavior, with its three different components: logic of paradox, logic of contradiction and logic of belief. Findings-This paper presents the work carried out by the Centro di Terapia Strategica of Arezzo, which following the MRI approach, has put together seemingly simple solution to intimidating complex problems. Practical implications-With the help of literature and practical-clinical examples, this paper puts forward the use of non-ordinary logic in brief strategic therapy in designing simple solutions to complex human problems such as phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders, presumed psychosis and other pathologies. Originality/value-This work helps therapists and other care-gives liberate themselves from the constraining chains of ordinary logic, in order to be able to solve human problems that seem unsolvable.

The major shift took place in mid-eighties-early nineties were rigorous yet not rigid protocols for specific pathologies were developed from general models of therapy. Over time specific strategies regarding technique, language and relationship were put together for each specific disorder studied, which rendered brief strategic interventions always more efficient and effective, and replicable in various socio-cultural contexts, by various trained therapists. A specific protocol was also put together for the first session. This research project has broaden even more in these last years, thanks to the collaboration of various affiliated centers around Europe and in the U.S.
