This work was idealized as a comprehension instrument of the Apostolic Creed in order to supply reflections about its possible use by the contemporary church. The origin and the establishments of its terms are presented through an historic development that establishes the fourth century as its date of conclusion. A detailed approach of the doctrine expressed in each clause is presented in light of the Bible, always taking into consideration the understanding and the context of life of the first Christians. In this way a bridge leading to the reflection about the actual use of the creed in the Church is built. It is concluded that the modern use of the creed by the Churches and denominations can happen in the following areas: in the candidate’s preparation for the baptism, in the defense of the faith, in the Christian education, in the liturgy and in the favor of the Christian ecumenism. Keywords: Apostolic Creed; Symbol; Clause.
