Annunziata of Florence during the eighteenth century. Through the analysis of historical documents, the study investigates the conceptions and methods of intervention applied in the restoration works in eighteenth century and traces a history of the restorations of the case-study which is significant for the understanding of architecture in its current characteristics and is useful for the orientation of future conservative interventions. From a methodological point of view, the reconstruction of the restoration interventions was carried out through the direct analysis of architecture with the results of the documentary investigation conducted in the private archive of the Pucci family which historically holds the patronage of the chapel.

Although the city is generally known worldwide as the cradle of the Renaissance, most of the city walls of the historic center date back to the latest building transformations. Through the study of the main urban transformations carried out under the government of Pietro Leopoldo up to the assignment of Florence as the capital of the kingdom of Italy, this contribution traces the urban evolution of the modern history of Florence and reflects on the image of today's city, a result of the stratification of the epochs. Furthermore, the contribution collects some examples of recent interventions carried out on the building fronts that allow us to reflect on the issues and criticalities of the conservation and safeguarding of the urban landscape in its totality and complexity.

The research highlighted the importance of the relationship between architecture and the environmental system in which it is inserted, especially between the environmental characteristics and the pathologies of the structure, and confirmed the cause / effect relationship between construction and urban drainage system. The preliminary studies conducted on the monument, and in particular the diagnostic campaign of the geophysical surveys, specified the characteristics of the ground on which the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata rests and described the specific problems of the subsoil.

Both these technologies were conceived and designed for non-contact operations in order to avoid damage to the surface. My case study is the Chiostro dei Voti of the Santissima Annunziata complex in Florence, which is one of the most important architectures in the city. The cloister dates back to the 15th century by Michelozzo. It underwent many stylistic and structural changes during the restorations of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The investigation was aimed at finding evidence of the changes made by the restoration work and the impact on the physical conservation of the historical complex.
