MD, since 2006. Since 2010, mainly working in surgical pathology field.One of the largest general surgical pathology diagnostic routine cases in the world was my main area of interest from 2013-2018.Since then, I´ve been more focused in more consultation and difficult cases as well as in specialties such as dermpath, gynpath, cytopath and kidneypath.Currently, I´ve been training in artificial intelligence, as well as digital medicine and cybertechonology applied to health care.My current position also includes CEO and entrepreneurship in health.

IgA nephropathy in Brazil: apropos of 600 cases

IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is th e commonest primary glomerular disease worldwide. Studies on its pre... more IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is th e commonest primary glomerular disease worldwide. Studies on its prevalence in Brazil are however scarce. Databases and clinical records from 10 reference centres were retrospectively reviewed. Clinical and laboratory features at the moment of the biopsy were retrieved (age, gender, presence of hematuria, serum creatinine [mg/dL], proteinuria [g/24 h]). Renal biopsy findings were classified according to Haas single grade classification scheme and the Oxford Classification of IgAN. 600 cases of IgAN were identified, of which 568 (94.7 %) were on native kidneys. Male to female ratio was 1.24:1. Patients averaged 32.76 ± 15.12 years old (range 4-89, median 32). Proteinuria and hematuria were observed, respectively in 56.63 and 72.29 % of patients. The association of both these findings occurred in 37.95 % of the cases. Serum creatinine averaged 1.65 ± 0.67 mg/dL (median 1.5 mg/dL) at diagnosis. The fact that they store enormous quantities of data is a challenge in what concerns performance and scalability, as users request instant answers. None of the traditional performance strategies is sufficiently good to make complex aggregation queries take only minutes or seconds. The summary warehouse (SW) achieves such a speedup by storing only generalpurpose sampling summaries well-fit for aggregated exploration analysis.

Review of Small Cell Carcinomas of the Prostate

Small cell carcinoma of the prostate is a rare neoplasm, with only a few series hitherto reported... more Small cell carcinoma of the prostate is a rare neoplasm, with only a few series hitherto reported. A little less than half of the cases are associated with conventional acinar adenocarcinoma, which are usually high grade. Although consensus has not been reached, the majority of patients with small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the prostate have advanced disease at diagnosis and disproportionally low PSA levels compared to patients with conventional acinar adenocarcinoma. Treatment consists mainly of chemotherapy associated with surgery. Radiation therapy is reserved for selected cases. This study reviews the most up-to-date information on small cell carcinomas of the prostate.

Elections and Reputation for High Dependability and Performance in Distributed Workload Execution

ABSTRACT Reputation systems use historical information about a service as the basis to predict it... more ABSTRACT Reputation systems use historical information about a service as the basis to predict its future behavior. In this work, we present a reputation-based task scheduling strategy for distributed database systems, which efficiently schedules workloads composed (or not) by best-effort oriented tasks and by tasks that have execution-related constraints. Available data services may participate in an election to choose the service that would execute each task. During task scheduling, each candidate service commits itself to satisfy some requirements or to finish a task execution by a certain time, depending on the task’s execution objective. In order to achieve high performance while still satisfying specified requirements, the election mechanism combines two reputation models: one classifies candidate services over their dependability (qualitative perspective), while the other is used to build expectations on a task’s execution time (quantitative perspective). Candidate classification mechanisms, recall elections and reelections rules are used to prevent performance or dependability degradation by the presence of malicious or erroneous services. We evaluated proposed strategies over widely used real-world DBMS (Oracle 11g and Microsoft SQL Server) using benchmark data and queries. Obtained results prove that the proposed scheduling mechanism leads to a highly dependable and efficient system even in the presence of malicious or erroneous data services.

However, execution of requests can become a lengthy and inefficient process for some large databases. Moreover, storing large amounts of data requires servers with larger capacities and scalability capabilities. Relational databases have limitations to deal with scalability for large volumes of data. On the other hand, non-relational database technologies, also known as NoSQL, were developed to better meet the needs of key-value storage of large amounts of records. But there is a large amount of NoSQL candidates, and most have not been compared thoroughly yet. The purpose of this paper is to compare different NoSQL databases, to evaluate their performance according to the typical use for storing and retrieving data. We tested 10 NoSQL databases with Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark using a mix of operations to better understand the capability of non-relational databases for handling different requests, and to understand how performance is affected by each database type and their internal mechanisms
