The paper aims to describe the experience of a scientific and educational experiment inherent in the design and placement of ephemeral architecture in school environments, explicating its potential in redeveloping spaces and its ability to catalyse the relationship between children and educational space in the post-pandemic school. In this context, we emphasize the crucial role of the methodology used during the design process in which human manual dexterity is central alongside which the use of computer instrumentation that implements the empirical phases of the work proves equally important.

The main goal of the research is to define a more efficient housing module for post-earthquake scenarios, based on the analysis of the most advanced international solutions for first-response shelters. This study has made it possible to identify both the strengths and weaknesses of existing proposals, leading to the development of a housing model capable of improving living conditions during emergency phases.
The objective is to propose an innovative housing module that not only addresses immediate post-disaster needs but is also adaptable to the specific socio-cultural characteristics of the affected populations.
As a result of this work, the "DIVA - Variable Dimension Emergency Shelter" project was developed. This housing model stands out for its ability to adapt to the needs of different emergency phases, offering a versatile and customizable solution that effectively addresses post-earthquake challenges while ensuring respect for cultural specificities and improving quality of life.

This requires new skills to effectively implement a process capable of ensuring an uninterrupted link between the concept of a building and its construction. The research described here focuses on implementing a tool for evaluating levels of maintenance quality applied at various stages in a project. In methodological terms, the research was conducted with the intention of constructing a system capable of managing the large number of variables involved in the design of a work of architecture from the earliest phases. The proposed digital model was defined through the construction and implementation of a Bayesian Network. The duration and maintainability of building components-generally expressed in statistical forecasts as expected duration in relation to operating conditions and as estimated costs and times of maintenance-were jointly evaluated using a synthetic index to generate a true overall rating of the various aspects that play a part in defining the quality of maintenance. The effectiveness of this decision-making support was tested in evaluations of complex architectural projects. Specifically, this text presents the results of an analysis of different maintenance scenarios for the ING Group Headquarters.

The research team, which includes the Engineering faculty of The British University in Dubai, is working to develop design strategies that contribute to implementing low-energy and off-grid architecture in the UAE. The goal is to design a home balancing human comfort and efficient energy use, and to respond to the site's climatic and contextual variables. The research aims to design a water-conserving, net-zero energy single-family home that can be used as a prototype for new building developments in this area. The approach developed toward an energy-efficient design process includes both traditional bioclimatic elements and high-performance active technological systems. The experimental design process also aims to reduce the building's environmental impact while creating a comfortable and responsive living environment. In this way, efficient water use and renewable energy features can be aesthetically, economically and culturally integrated into the home's architecture to improve its residents' quality of life. The house design responds to the climate challenges and complements active systems reducing energy use and associated carbon emissions. At the same time, it aims to contribute to the development of appropriate architecture, a starting point for simple architectural expression in the UAE.
