Este artigo discute a formação de professores a partir de um estudo realizado com oito professore... more Este artigo discute a formação de professores a partir de um estudo realizado com oito professores em pré-serviço/alunos-professores, do Curso de Letras - habilitação em Língua Inglesa. Analisam-se as concepções de ensino, incertezas quanto à carreira de professor e as dificuldades enfrentadas no estágio supervisionado em Língua Inglesa. Na visão do grupo pesquisado, ensinar é uma questão de transmissão de conteúdos, isto significa que ao chegar ao terceiro ano do curso de Letras o aluno-professor tem um conhecimento muito restrito do que seja ensinar. A pesquisa revela também contradições quanto ao futuro profissional, pois há aqueles que acreditam numa profissão de sucesso, enquanto outros se mostram pessimistas. Além disso, a pesquisa revela que o maior problema enfrentado durante a execução do estágio não está relacionado ao desempenho lingüístico (desempenho oral), mas pode ser uma questão sociológica.

ABSTRACT: The internationalization of Higher Education is in the process of comprehension of its ... more ABSTRACT: The internationalization of Higher Education is in the process of comprehension of its meaning in the research participants’ voices in the context of State University in the south of Brazil. The participants present the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of the internationalization process through the medium of English. The data of this study were gathered from interview and questionnaire based on the qualitative and quantitative research. The interpretation of the data shows the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of the internationalization through English as a medium of instruction (EMI) and the knowledge of the English language from the perspective of nonnative speaker of English. The complete results from this study can be found in the final report of a postdoctoral research conducted from May 2018 to July 2019 at Federal University of Paraná, Curitiba, Brazil. This paper will present a synthesis about the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of the internationalization focused on EMI as a process.
