Akabom I . Asuquo, B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D, ACA, FCCA, FIIA (Professor of Accounting)

Akabom I. Asuquo was employed as a Graduate Assistant into the Department of Accounting University of Calabar, Calabar in September 1998. He has grown through the lines and was announced and confirmed A Full Professor of Accounting by the Senate of the University Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria, with effect from 1st October 2021. Professor Asuquo is a down-to-earth and knowledgeable teacher who believes in ensuring an in-depth understanding of the underlying principles of each subject he teaches.  He is an Alumnus of the great University, University of Calabar, and holds B.Sc. (Hons) Second Class Upper Division degree in Accounting (1996), M.Sc. degree in Accounting (2002), and PhD degree in Accounting (2006). Professor Akabom I. Asuquo is an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Fellow Certified Chartered Accountant (FCCA), Fellow Member of Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria (FIIA), Fellow Member, European Centre for Research Training and Development, UK, Fellow Member, International Research and Development Institute, and Member, Departmental Quality Assurance / Examination Malpractice Committee. Nigeria (2008-2010). He has held various administrative positions at both the Department and Faculty levels, few of which are:  Examination Officer (2004-2008), Coordinator of B.Sc. Accounting, Evening degree programme (2009-2010), Head of Department (2010-2012), Chairman, Departmental Graduate Committee (2014-2018), Chairman, Faculty Graduate Committee (2018- 2022). He has taught many courses including Statistics for business decisions 1 & 2, Introduction to Financial Accounting 1 & 2, Introduction to Cost & Management Accounting, Business Mathematics, Quantitative Techniques, Intermediate Financial Accounting 1 & 2, Accounting Information system and Research Methods in Accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised many PhD, M.Sc., MBA and PGD students at both Department and Faculty. Professor Asuquo has attended many local and international conferences/workshops/Trainings and had presented academic papers in most of these gatherings; indeed he is an erudite scholar. Professor Akabom Asuquo has developed an award winning/patented model called “Standard Magnitude Variance/Progress index”, which is used in determining the financial progress of any business organizations. He has received many awards and honours, few of which are: Leadership Distinction Award (LDA) by Nigerian Organization for Youths Advancement (NOYA), South-South Zone, January, 2009 and Development in Nigeria Merit Awards (DINMA) By People State & Resource (2011). Professor Asuquo was born in the middle part of 1970. He attended Emmanuel Nursery/Primary School, Chamley, Calabar (1976-1984); Duke Town Secondary School, Calabar (1984-1990); University of Calabar, Calabar: 1991-1996 (B.Sc.); POZAH Computer Training School, Port Harcourt, River State, 1997-1998 (Dip. MIS)  1998-2002 (M.Sc.); 2002-2006 (PhD).  He is clergyman; an ordained Senior Elder in the Body Christ.  He is contentedly married to Mrs. Nkese Akabom Asuquo, and the marriage is blessed with lovely children.
