Sharon Padilla

I am a Dr.Theol. Candidate in New Testament at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Bonn, Germany. Concurrently, I serve as a Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin) in the Chair of New Testament at the Theology Faculty of Paderborn.

My academic path began with undergraduate studies in literature and philosophy, which ignited my interest in (political) theology and led me to delve into the Jewish scriptures and the texts of the New Testament. Over the last years, I have specialized in the historical-critical exegesis of the undisputed letters of Paul of Tarsus. Presently, I am writing the last chapters of my dissertation, which examines the exhortations to wakefulness and soberness in Paul's undisputed letters. I am particularly intrigued by the utilization of these exhortations within the ancient philosophical-religious "market of ways of life", where they appear to be commonplace and play a pivotal role in each hairesis's presentation of its "way of life" proposal and competition with others.

My current research in Paderborn explores the theme of divine providence in Luke-Acts. I am engaged in comparative analysis, juxtaposing Luke-Acts with other narrative texts from antiquity that contemplate and structure their narratives according to their concept of divine providence, such as Virgil's "Aeneid", and Lucan's "Civil War".
