To talk about the cultural identity of the popular pottery produced in the Valley of the Jequitin... more To talk about the cultural identity of the popular pottery produced in the Valley of the Jequitinhonha/MG it is necessary to talk about the conditions of life of the craftswomen who manufacture these objects, showing how they survive, how they create, what they produce and to whom they sell their products; we can affirm, therefore, that there is in these communities a “cultural identity” evidenced in the symbolism and in the aesthetics adopted in the creation of their objects. It is also important to observe in this artistic ecosystem the social and cultural relations of the craftswomen with their family, with the community, with the intermediators of their production and the influence of the foreign market affecting the production, circulation and the consumption of their art work.
