In Malaysia, the Dapo is non-toxic and is eaten by aboriginal tribes. They also use it for medicinal purposes to ease labor pains, pounded in water and used as medication for fever and many more. While in the Philippines, specifically in the Bicol region, it is believed to bring in wealth when planted near an entrance.
