The interface between a reservoir and a caprock is generally considered a flow boundary where cap... more The interface between a reservoir and a caprock is generally considered a flow boundary where capillary trapping at the base of the caprock and low permeability of the seal resists the upward migration of fluids. Joints and faults may act as mechanisms for seal bypass, allowing fluids to escape from the reservoir. The injection and storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in subsurface porous sandstone with effective top seals is a proposed method for reducing the amount of anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere in the system of carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS). Uplift and erosion of the San Rafael Swell in south-central Utah has exposed the Jurassic Navajo Sandstone and Carmel Formation reservoir-seal pair that is analogous to potential CO2 injection targets. Este estudio tiene como objetivo definir un sistema de indicadores para el destino turístico Galápagos, empleando una metodología que combina el análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo partiendo de la conceptualización del turismo sustentable para el destino. The properties of these oil-modified materials depend on the type of polyunsaturated vegetable oil used for its manufacturing, since a higher degree of unsaturation provides a better crosslinking of the cured paint. <em>Linum usitatissimum</em> L. (flax) oil is widely used to develop alkyd resins due to its high degree of unsaturation. As a possibly potent business strategy that can give significant economic benefits for hotelier s... more As a possibly potent business strategy that can give significant economic benefits for hotelier sectors and other companies, the topic of customer relationship management has tempted the organizations throughout the 1990s to date. One of the big problems is that many hotels have not seen the results they expected with their practice. On the other hand, it is now spoken that has been changed from a transactional marketing to a relational marketing, criticized for being difficult to implement in practice. Based on information collected from small and medium-sized hotel companies of three stars, classification based on the new hotel classification. The research findings show that the actual results being measured and achieved in hotelier sector are that the use of this type of strategy can allow hoteliers or companies to tailor special guest programs, services and promotions based on hotel guest preferences. The hotel can use the data collected in a program to identify the needs of customers across hotel chains to be able to use marketing that can be targeted at specific groups of people. It also gives hoteliers the opportunity to evaluate frequent guest programs, personalize their services and perform trend analysis. A program based in marketing relational is typically run by hotels and companies to collect guest information and transaction data for use and examining to allow hoteliers to see target groups that should be marketed too. Based on these transactions hotels can create and manage guest loyalty programs and reward schemes. This research approach is to appraise the impact of customer relationship management on customer profitability as mediated by customer loyalty and customer retention within the hotelier sector of Mexico, and specifically for those hoteliers classified like of three stars. A sample of 100 hotels three stars was interviewed as respondents in this study. The objective of the study was to find the impact relationship between effective customer relationship implementation, customer loyalty, and customer retention and customer profitability. The findings of the study add value to hotels three stars in Mexico, and provide some invaluable statistical results essential for hotel managers and owners to successfully enhance customer loyalty, customer retention and customer profitability. This study's findings add to the body of knowledge and enable the managers of this sector to implement customer relationship management in the best shape possible, to match it with Mexican market-needs thereby creating more loyal customers.

The result indicated that development of F1 interspecific hybrids of cultivated okra with wild species was comparatively easy but F1s were sterile. Restoration of fertility through colchicine treatment was successful in the crosses of okra with A. tuberculatus and A. tetraphyllus. Further, pollen-pistil interaction appears to play an important role in the success of interspecific hybridizations between A. esculentus and A. tetraphyllus var. tetraphyllus, A. moschatus and A. tetraphyllu var. pungens. Estas formulaciones han sido evaluadas en ensayos de corrosion acelerada y en un ensayo de larga duracion en una atmosfera urbano-marina. Los resultados obtenidos han demostrado que los anticorrosivos acrilicos base agua pueden ofrecer similar proteccion e incluso superior (ensayos de corrosion acelerada) que algunas pinturas convencionales base solvente de uso comun. This thesis is comprised of three chapters linked together by their economic analysis of uniform ... more This thesis is comprised of three chapters linked together by their economic analysis of uniform pricing and vertical contracts in two-sided markets. Various forms of uniform pricing and vertical contracts are present in the United States cable television market (Chapter 1), markets involving online purchasing platforms (Chapter 2), and in markets for health insurance (Chapter 3). These markets are common examples of two-sided markets since, for example, local television stations connect advertisers and viewers, online platforms connect buyers and sellers of various goods, and health insurers connect patients with medical providers. This thesis studies the economic consequences of vertical contracts and uniform pricing practices, which can arise through private contract or government regulation, in two-sided markets. Chapter 1 examines how local television stations have responded to a regulation of the 1992 Cable Act mandating cable distributors offer consumers local content in the form of a bundle with a single price. In this chapter, I show that this form of government-mandated uniform pricing results in television stations setting their prices for content higher than they would absent this regulation. In collaboration with Kenneth Corts, Chapter 2 examines the pricing incentives of sellers who reach potential buyers through platforms that may restrict sellers to offering a uniform price across all platforms. This contractual restriction is commonly referred to as a "most-favorednation" clause. In this chapter, we show that platforms may find it privately profitable to adopt such a contractual restriction, and that the result is higher fees charged by platforms to sellers.

In this paper a time synchronization algorithm for IEEE 802.11a/g OFDM-WLAN standard is evaluated... more In this paper a time synchronization algorithm for IEEE 802.11a/g OFDM-WLAN standard is evaluated and some modifications are proposed to improve its performance. The original synchronization algorithm utilizes coarse and fine estimation. In this paper fine time estimation is done using a cross-correlation as the original algorithm does, but different solutions are evaluated to cope with the problems of the coarse estimation in the original algorithm. The performances of these alternatives are tested by simulation in multi-path channels, at low signal to noise ratio and with carrier frequency offset. Also, the computational cost is evaluated.

The high-unsaturated fatty acid content of Sacha inchi oil (SIO), a perennial plant originally fr... more The high-unsaturated fatty acid content of Sacha inchi oil (SIO), a perennial plant originally from Peru, has turned it into a potential raw material for the production of alkyd resins. In this study, different proportions of multifunctional polyols were used to prepare air-drying resins. Physicochemical characteristics (acid value, viscosity, colour, density, drying time, and hardness) of alkyds were evaluated. Moreover, FT-IR, TG–DTA, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR characterization techniques were used. SIO-based alkyd resins prepared with trimethylolpropane exhibited low viscosities, suitable for preparing more manageable high solids protective coatings.

Abstract Alkyd paints contain resins derived from vegetable oils. Alkyd resins have regained thei... more Abstract Alkyd paints contain resins derived from vegetable oils. Alkyd resins have regained their importance since they are mostly composed of bio-based constituents recovered from biofuels production and agro-industrial waste. The anticorrosive performance of medium alkyd paints modified with Sacha inchi and linseed oils, and different ratios of glycerol and pentaerythritol, were compared by accelerated corrosion tests (Salt Fog and Sulphur Dioxide tests). This study focuses on comparing the effect of polyalcohol and oil type on physicochemical properties of resin solutions and cured films, and consequently, on the anticorrosive behaviour of paints prepared with the resins under study. Results showed that the mixture of pentaerythritol and Sacha inchi oil improves alkyd resin properties and enhance the anticorrosive performance of alkyd paints in accelerated weathering tests.
