Detecting strabismus is crucial as its misalignment not only affects one's appearance but also seriously disrupts the eye's function as a visual sense organ. Strabismus can affect the psychosocial condition of individuals, such as decreased self-confidence and self-esteem. This literature review assesses and compares the post-surgery between pre-surgery quality of life of strabismus patients.

Introduction: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) following general anesthesia is frequent... more Introduction: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) following general anesthesia is frequent among geriatric patients worldwide. Neuroinflammation and neuronal injury have been associated with the incidence of POCD. Some biomarkers of brain damage including neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S100B protein have been widely studied; however, their association with the incidence of POCD is still controversial. This study aimed to assess the correlation of serum NSE and S100B levels with the incidence of POCD among geriatric patients receiving general anesthesia. Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted among geriatric patients receiving general anesthesia at Dr. Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya from July to October 2022. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) INA instrument was used to assess POCD, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to quantify the levels of serum NSE and S100B. Spearman’s rank correlation was implemented to identify the correlation of MoCA...

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) remains one of the most common neurodevelopmental... more Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) remains one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders, with prevalence reaching 5%-9% in school age children and 60%-63% of the disorder will persist to adolescent and adult. Symptoms of attention deficit, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are the hallmark of this disorder. In adult, ADHD causes social interaction dysfunction, academic problem, problem in maintaining work, problem in finishing task, problem in maintaining relationship, and poor impulse control so they are prone to antisocial behavior and drug or alcohol abuse. Comprehensive management of ADHD in childhood is urgently needed. The effectiveness of pharmacotherapy, as the standard therapy for ADHD beside behavioral therapy and psychoeducation, is hindered its side effects. One of the proposed supporting therapies for children with ADHD is occupational therapy, a field which focuses in optimization of health and human potential through the use of occupation or activity. Some of the therapeutic methods in this field include sensory integration therapy, rhythmic therapy, occupational group therapy, cognitive-functional intervention and physical activity. Each of the methods are supported by sound theoretical basis, therefore consideration has to be made as a part of standard ADHD management..

Many a gene that has reportedly exchanged in carcinogenesis carcinoma mammae as PTEN, IGFR, Ki-67, Her-2 neu, and p53 are classified as a factor prognostic. It is still a little research report about the expression of PTEN and expression IGFR in the case carcinoma mammae invasive especially in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to know the relationship between expression PTEN and expression IGFR with Ki-67 expression and grade histopatology of carcinoma mammae invasive. The condition of psychological stress experienced by the mother will affect the child's emotions ... more The condition of psychological stress experienced by the mother will affect the child's emotions and behaviour. Emotional and behavioral problems in children could continue to be serious disorders if they are not managed earlier. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the psychological stress of the mother and the emotional and behavioral problems of elementary school age children. This research used analytic observational research with a cross-sectional research design. The study population was students in grades I-VI at SD Negeri Surabaya and used total population sampling. The results of the study were tested with spearman's rho test, which showed that there was a relationship between the mother's psychological stress and the emotional and behavioral problems of elementary school-aged children p-value=0.022 (p<0.05) had a positive relationship. The higher the stress level experienced by the mother, the higher the level of emotional and behavioral problems experienced by the child.

Keeping an eye on children with ADHD may be burdensome for their mothers. This study aimed to perform the assessment of mothers’ burden in caregiving their children with ADHD symptoms who are enrolled as students at Elementary Schools in Surabaya and to reveal its relation with sociodemographic factors. Method: This cross-sectional study was purposively set at two elementary schools in Surabaya within a period of three months. Out of 324 total participants that partook in this study, 36 mothers were eligible as the samples to fill out sociodemographic and Zarit Burden Interview questionnaires. Afterwards, the data underwent quantitative content analysis. Result: Minimum burden to no burden at all were majorly experienced among mothers (63,9%) whilst the rest went through minimum to mode...

Originating from Wuhan, China, it spread quickly to the entire world. In just 6 months, it's reported no less than 7.700.000 confirmed cases by June 2020. The cause is severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2. Many organs are affected by Covid-19, especially the heart and lungs. Cardiovascular damage is frequently detected in patients with this condition. We can find troponin and/or creatine kinase increasing. Cytocine storm in Covid-19 can result towards multiple organ failure (MOF), which is life threatening. Cytocine storm manifested in excessive inflammation, hiperferritinemia, a marked increase in proinflammatory cytokines, hemodinamic instability, and lastly, multi organ failure, which can be fatal. From clinical symptoms, many of the patients developed pneumonia and severe acute respiratory distress syndrome, which is the main death cause of Covid-19. Hypertension and heart problems appear to be th...

Systemic infections such as sepsis are important clinical problems that cause heart decompensatio... more Systemic infections such as sepsis are important clinical problems that cause heart decompensation or heart failure. Cardiac dysfunction caused by sepsis is caused by a functional decline in situations where energy needs are not met by energy production. This phenomenon is often encountered and is related to the severity of sepsis. Careful clinical assessment is needed to diagnose sepsis and heart failure, especially if the conditions overlap. Infections related to heart failure can occur in the community as well as during treatment at the hospital, where most are caused by pulmonary infections and urinary tract infections. Thus, in addition to specific biomarkers, clinical cardiologists have created new criteria for early detection and treatment of sepsis in heart failure patients. These criteria are based on clinical protocols, microbiological tests, and radiological tests. Increased levels of protein and procalcitonin can also point to infections as a cause of decompensated heart...

Inappropriate parenting can lead to a lack of nutritional intake and the occurrence of diseases that can affect the nutritional status and death of children. Caring for breastfeeding and complementary foods that are not sufficient can cause growth and development disorders with all the impacts in adulthood. Methods: This is an observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were taken by random sampling technique with a sample size of 97 mothers who had babies aged 0-12 months. The independent variable is breastfeeding and complementary feeding and the dependent variable is the child’s nutritional status. The data collection method was carried out through interviews using a questionnaire given to the mother and secondary data in the form of the baby’s weight, then the results were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The most nutritional status of infants (90...
