In addition, many others have investigated the realm of writing centers in the L1 and English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) contexts. However, little if any research has been carried out analyzing the feedback provided to students by foreign language (FL) writing centers. Undoubtedly this unexplored territory begs novel investigation in several diverse areas. The current pilot study aims to explore this new territory primarily through an analysis of negotiationnamely through a comparison of the feedback provided by writing consultants 1 at the Spanish Writing Center (SWC) at the University of Minnesota and the feedback provided by foreign language writing instructors at the same institution.
