A sample of 217 middle school students was selected in Oporto. We used the Disruptive Behavior Scale Professed by Students (DBS-PS) and the Psychossociological Environment of the Classroom (APSA) scale. It can be inferred that the students who perceive the classroom environment as more positive are the ones who show less disruptive behaviors and, as a result, they get better grades.

Abstract
This research aimed to construct and validate the School Effectiveness Negotiating Conflict Questionnaire. We used two samples of students from middle and high school in two urban public schools in Oporto, one with 622 students and another with 505, the last one to confirm validation. The results of the samples show values of Cronbach's alpha of .84 and .87, respectively. The data suggest the feability and validity of QENCE to assess the construct under study. We consider relevant to continue the psychometric studies of the scale.

Mediation, which is a dynamic conflict solving process, has been implemented so as to achieve a fair and acceptable agreement designed to please and appease both contenders. The school mediator emerges as the one who has to carry out the task of enforcing values which are crucial to an healthy school and social environment such as: the pursue of justice, the praise of freedom, the quest for tolerance and the respect for racial and cultural diversity. Schools should, therefore, establish a pledge to these values making students aware of them and develop their own ideas about them even if this means a unavoidable confrontation with the ones previously instilled by their families. The purpose of this article is to make a contribution to an indispensa...

Results obtained with that instrument were analyzed, and measures of reliability and of construct and concurrent discrimination were estimated. Six specific factors were identified for the teaching environment through varimax-rotation factor analysis. These factors accounted for 62,4 per cent of the total variance. Reliability coefficients ranged between .73 e .83 for different factors. Most of the elements found point to psychometric qualities, but also to the need for further studies.
