As singularities are present in these relationships, direct estimation of speed using artificial neural networks (ANNs) with these stator inputs is not possible. This paper proposes a scheme which employs two ANNs to recover motor speed. An added benefit of this scheme

To adequately adapt to the changing radio environment, it is necessary for the CR to be able to perform joint detection and classification of low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) signals without requiring much a priori information on the signal parameters. In this paper, we propose a joint detection and classification algorithm for the mobile Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) signals. The algorithm has the advantage that it requires relaxed information on the signal parameters. Simulation results are presented, which show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm under diverse scenarios.

The techniques are based on speed expressions obtained from the induction motor dynamic equations. Two of the equations obtained have singularities, and hence direct speed estimation from these is not possible. The paper proposes a scheme using two ANNs to recover the speed from these two equations. However, it is possible to combine these two equations in a way that removes the singularities. Another method, based on this equation, is presented for obtaining the speed directly from the output of an ANN. These methods are general and easily implementable using commercially available ANN devices.

Cyclostationarity-Based Detection of LTE OFDM Signals for Cognitive Radio Systems
2010 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference GLOBECOM 2010, 2010

This relates to the existence of the reference signals (RSs) used for channel estimation and cell search/acquisition purposes. The analytical closed form expressions for the RS-induced cyclic autocorrelation function (CAF) and cyclic frequencies (CFs) are derived. Based on these findings, a signal detection algorithm is then developed. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves a good detection performance for low signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), short sensing times, and under diverse channel conditions.

We further improve our scheme by introducing the concept of node grouping to enhance the performance, and develop another new channel assignment algorithm called Load-Aware CAEPO-G. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed schemes can significantly improve the aggregated network performance.

Using distributed control and a modular design, the Balanced Gamma (BG) switch features a high performance for unicast, multicast and combined traffic under both random and bursty conditions. Although it has buffers on input and output ports, the multicast BG switch follows predominantly an output-buffered architecture. The performance is studied under uniform and non-uniform multicast traffic in terms of cell loss ratio and cell delay. The results are compared with those from an ideal pure output-buffered multicast switch to demonstrate how close its performance is to that of the ideal but impractical switch. Comparisons with other published switches reveals the superior of the BG switch and the tradeoffs between complexity and performance in a packet switch design. It is shown that the multicast BG switch achieves a performance close to...
