Adam Dahl
My primary research and teaching interests are in American political thought, democratic theory, race and indigeneity, and empire and colonialism. My first book is "Empire of the People: Settler Colonialism and the Foundations of Modern Democratic Thought" (University Press of Kansas, 2018). I am currently working on a book-length project that examines how anti-imperial and internationalist thinkers in the Americas have constructed transnational conceptions of democracy, responsibility, and citizenship in response to the enduring legacies of Euro-American imperialism. My research has appeared or is forthcoming in journals such as Journal of Politics, Polity, Perspectives on Politics, and Political Research Quarterly, among others, and has received financial support from the Mellon Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies.
