The design of the exhaust system affects many parameters such as reducing the noise level, contro... more The design of the exhaust system affects many parameters such as reducing the noise level, control velocity, temperature, back-pressure of exhaust gas and reduce pollution production. The exhaust system has many parts which consist of an exhaust manifold, resonator, catalytic converter, muffler, and connecting pipes. Muffler has the main function as a noise absorber. Furthermore, the temperature distribution on mufflers is also affected by fuel consumption by reducing back-pressure effect. This study has conducted an experiment to determine the effect of modified muffler shape in a motorcycle which consists of standard, scorpion, and 3v3 type. The effects of mufflers’ performance on the motorcycle are described on torque and power graphics. Furthermore, this study explains the muffler geometry effect on noise reduction from the combustion process. The installation of 3v3 muffler decreases torque and power in a motorcycle. Moreover, the installation of 3v3 muffler type raises noise pollution level which generates by the engine combustion process.

Cooling tower merupakan sebuah alat penukar kalor yang berfungsi mendinginkan air panas dari kondensor dan membuang panas ke atmosfer pada suatu pembangkit listrik. Hal ini dilakukan agar temperatur air panas dari kondensor dapat menjadi dingin seperti kondisi semula. Salah satu komponen penyusun cooling tower adalah filler. Filler (bahan pengisi) adalah komponen yang sangat berpengaruh terhadap kinerja cooling tower, dimana permukaan kontak antara air dengan udara diperluas dan waktu kontaknya diperpanjang. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen dengan menggunakan metode NTU (Number of Transfer Unit). Adapun variasi yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini yaitu bentuk filler lurus, ziz zag, dan bergelombang. Parameter yang diamati adalah laju perpindahan panas, kapasitas cooling tower dan efektifitas cooling tower.

It will be applied by allowing the panels/modules to be cooled and lessening the heat stored in the solar cells through an operation. In the research using experimental methods, the solar panels used have a capacity of 100 WP as a source of micro-power generation, the angle of inclination of the panels is adjusted with variations of 150, 200, and 250. The cooling system uses water, the process of draining water using a submersible pump mounted on a reservoir Water flows to all surfaces of the solar panel and circulates continuously when operating. The experimental outcomes show that the cooling process utilizing water has reduced the temperature operating of the solar panels. Ethanol's high octane value can substitute for power in spark-ignition engines (SI). Gasoline mixed with ethanol will reduce the calorific value generated and intensify the combustion process in the combustion chamber. Through the engine performance test, we can find out the increase in the performance of the SI engine. Several essential variables can improve engine performance, such as gasoline-ethanol variations, iridium spark plugs, and hydroxy gas generators (HHO). This research uses an experimental method by utilizing gasoline (octane-92)-ethanol variations (35%, 45%, and 55% v/v) with the intake of hydroxy gas during the combustion process. The SI automatic transmission engine has a capacity of 124.8 cubic centimeters (one cylinder-four stroke), a compression ratio of 11/1, fuel injection, and iridium spark plugs. HHO is considered an alternative fuel. It can be applied alone or mixed with other kind of fuels in different ratios. In this analysis, the composition of HHO-ethanol was mixed in different variations. Ethanol-HHO was chosen because of its high-octane rating yet low exhaust emissions, and ease of obtaining from engine products. It has been applied on fuel prepared by mixing it with gasoline in various ratios (E30-HHO, E40-HHO, and E50-HHO). The ethanol-HHO mixture has been used in a single-cylinder 4-stroke spark machine for performance, by varying speed of engine from 4000 to 9000 RPM and by applying a platinum spark plug electrode type. Perbedaan material dan variasi parameter pemotongan pada proses turning diprediksi berpengaruh terhadap kekasaran permukaan hasil pemesinan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh dan seberapa besar pengaruh perbedaan material dan variasi parameter pemotongan terhadap kekasaran hasil proses turning di mesin CNC. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan pengujian langsung ke mesin CNC Turning Fanuc Oi Mate TC VT15L type PU 2A material baja ST60, aluminium 6061, dan polyethylene.
