The low reputation of vocational education in Spain requires schools to reconsider this type of e... more The low reputation of vocational education in Spain requires schools to reconsider this type of education by taking advantage of its key resources and developing dynamic capabilities. Using structural equation modelling, this study analyses the impact of technological resources on two categories of dynamic capabilities: sensing capability and innovativeness, as well as the effect of these two capabilities on reputation, in a representative sample of vocational schools in tourism in Spain, with the key informants being the staff responsible for the degree (i.e., director, vice-director, head of studies, etc.). The results show that the use of technological resources provides vocational schools with the necessary capabilities to explore trends in social demands and the job market and reduce the gap between academy and industry. The new economy, characterized by the increase and spread of new information and communication te... more The new economy, characterized by the increase and spread of new information and communication technologies in organizations, has changed the economic precepts established in the physical markets. Electronic commerce business to customer (B2C), which represents the company-customer electronic commerce mode, has contributed significantly to this fact. This justifies and promotes the development of studies aimed at deciphering the new parameters in quality management in the electronic age, especially in relation to electronic commerce B2C. For this reason, the fundamental proposal of this article is to analyze and compare the applicability of the SERVQUAL survey instrument, which is widely accepted in the literature on traditional service, in electronic commerce B2C. As a principal conclusion, the authors propose a theoretical scale to measure online quality that seeks to find synergies between SERVQUAL and the new empirical scales that appear in the literature on electronic commerce B2C.

Outsourcing takes on special importance in the hotel sector. This article studies, from a strateg... more Outsourcing takes on special importance in the hotel sector. This article studies, from a strategic perspective, the characteristics that hotel activities must possess for them to be outsourced. A strategic perspective also requires analysis of the influence of outsourcing on organizational performance according to the strategic value of the activities. The results suggest that, apart from traditional factors, there are others, such as activity performance, substitutability and transferability, which may determine the decision to outsource. Evidence from the study implies that outsourcing has a positive influence on organizational performance. The study concludes with implications for hotel managers while also contributing to academic literature.

The phenomenon of outsourcing is becoming increasingly widespread among organizations and is now ... more The phenomenon of outsourcing is becoming increasingly widespread among organizations and is now one of the strategic decisions that attract the greatest interest from professionals and organizational scholars. The primary purpose of the paper is to contribute with a review of the principal works that address outsourcing from the resource-based view of the firm (RBV). The paper begins by setting out the main premises of outsourcing and then presents the different concepts of outsourcing and proposes a concept that is more in line with the theoretical framework used. This is followed by an analysis of the principal differences and similarities of the treatments of outsourcing from the traditional perspective of the transaction costs economics theory (TCE) and from the more strategic and up-to-date RBV. The next section contains a review of the most significant theoretical and empirical works on outsourcing that address outsourcing from the RBV. The contributions are classified into two categories, depending on the objectives: works that study the propensity to outsource and works that study the relationship between the outsourcing decision and organizational performance. Finally, a framework is proposed that is based on the resource and capability view with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of outsourcing and facilitating future empirical works from the RBV that are complementary and examine issues of greater interest that have been less developed in the literature to date.
