History has had an irnportant evolution in her conception and social
projection. In this paper we propase an interpretative story of this process, for know her function in our current society. Finally, we study this evolution in the Instituto de Estudios Canarios (Canary Islands), with a few ideas ofthe future of the Instituto and the History

With this text we want to expose the most important characteristics of
the Cabrera-Renshaw s Archive. It has documents between the 16th and the 19th centuries, and is deposited in the Tenerife's History Museum. We want to explain the way to make the work, his value to the historical investigation, an many other
things about it.

Studies on the interrelationships between genealogy and social history allow for a more precise definition of demographic, social, economic and political behaviours in border societies, like the one in Tenerife at the beginning of the 16'h century.
We have applied this approach to che case of Marina Fernándcz de la Vera, a woman pertaining to the rural elite of the region ofTegueste, whose life allows us to draw a series of interesting conclusions

Identity is one of the latest analysis in social relations in the Middle Ages. In the article we try to go more deeply into that kind of studies in Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. We study some examples at de time of the conquest by Castilla, in the transit between 15th and 16th centuries.

Resumen: Esta colección documental surge con la intención de mostrar un amplio abanico de fórmulas documentales útiles para el estudio de la conflictividad familiar, en sus múltiples variantes. Entre ellas hay ejemplos de las realidades económicas de las familias, y también de todo el universo cotidiano relacionado con la violencia, sus causas, sus consecuencias, y sus mecanismos de socialización. Résumé: Cette collection documentaire a pour objectif de montrer un large éventail de formules documentaires utiles pour l'étude des conflits familiaux, dans leurs multiples variantes. Parmi elles, on trouve des exemples de réalités économiques des familles, et également, de tout l'univers quotidien en rapport avec la violence, ses causes, ses conséquences et ses mécanismes de socialisation. Abstract: This collection of records arose with the idea of showing a wide range of useful documentary formulae for studying family conflict, in its multiple variants. Amongst these there are examples of economic realities of families, and also everyday life related to violence, its causes, consequences and mechanisms of socialisation. Laburpena: Dokumentu sorta hori familien gatazkakortasuna (aldaera guztietan) aztertzeko dokumentu-formula erabilgarrien aukera anitza erakusteko helburutik sortu da. Horien artean familien errealitate ekonomikoak daude, bai eta indarkeriarekin loturiko eguneroko unibertsokoak ere (arrazoiak, ondorioak eta sozializazio mekanismoak). Giltza-hitzak: Familia. La formación y consolidación de los diferentes núcleos rurales al margen de la antigua capital de la isla de Tenerife, después de la incorporación de esta a la Corona castellana, aún está poco estudiada. Para conocer mejor ese proceso sería necesaria una investigación exhaustiva del reparto de la propiedad entregada a los diferentes beneficiarios tras la conquista, y analizar a su vez la forma en que dicho reparto influyó en la organización del espacio de los diferentes lugares. Es un proyecto muy ambicioso para estas páginas, aunque sí consideramos que se puede realizar una aproximación desde alguno de sus ángulos. En nuestro caso, trataremos de abordarlo a partir de la implantación en dichos enclaves de los representantes del poder civil, denominados alcaldes y alguaciles de lugar, que fueron nombrados a medida que iban creciendo las economías locales y por ende el número de vecinos.

Los participantes y organizadores agradecemos las atenciones de todos aquellos que, de una forma u otra, hicieron posible que el desarrollo del Simposio fuera más fácil, en especial a Consuelo Pinilla y a Santos Campoy. Asimismo, el respeto y reconocimiento a todos los jóvenes investigadores que no pudieron asistir debido a la ardua tarea de selección, nada liviana, por parte del comité científico porque, de cualquier manera, también participaron en el Simposio.

The figure of the King in late medieval Castile entailed justice itself and as such the King might stand as the ultimate
judge before his subjects. However, this did not prevent the existence and enactment of a powerful legal machinery which transcended its mere basic attributions. The monarch could forgive certain crimes and such a capacity was used throughout the late medieval centuries quite frequently according to the needs and interests of diverse groups. This article tries to synthesize the fundamental variables participating in this kind of processes in the final years of the Middle Ages, as well as to analyze them from the perspective of the history of crime and conflict.
