I truly hope The McCain Girls (It's Raining McCain and Here Comes McCain Again) turn out to be the most brilliant, subtle, sublime satirists of our generation. If this is satire, we're seeing the successors to Andy Kaufman.
Here's the thing - I can't decide. In my heart, I want the satire. I want these three women to have had a conversation where they said, What if we pretended to support McCain? What if we made horrible music videos, made idiots of ourselves, and took him down with us? What if we made it funny by making it not look funny, like we really believe all the things we're saying? Or, what if they think they're helping him out? What if these three are exactly as they appear - hopelessly deluded. Their inability to produce harmonies that most humans recognize is only rivaled by their devotion to John McCain. Is that the point? Anyone who votes for him is tone-deaf? I CAN'T STAND THE SUSPENSE.
Thank you McCain Girls. Now get your teeth fixed, you're freaking me out.
